Yep give the DVLA all the details and ask 'please confirm if this lot are AOS members, can they get my data or not?' or words to that effect, a really simple question with links to the website and a scan of the 'ticket' if you can attach that too.

Also, if the ticket (or signs on site) suggests/lies that they 'can/will' apply to the DVLA for data, point the sentence out to the DVLA and ask them to report the firm to Trading Standards because clearly it is not true (only AOS members can get data).

By the way, the website makes it obvious to me that these are ex-clampers (typical SIA-licensed, megalomaniac, thick-necked and thick-as-shtt 'door security' knuckle-draggers) and NOT AOS members for sure. The tickets only give a 10% discount for online payments (who on earth ever would give this lot their card details!!) and there's NOTHING about appealing one of their 'Excess Charges'. I do hope your friend hasn't contacted this bunch, because they can't contact him!!

I will eat my hat if this lot are AOS members.

    WOT?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek:

That's either a fraudulent statement (allegedly) or this is a real penalty issued on behalf of an authority under some sort of bylaw. I think it's the former.

Anything about a Council or Railway or Port Authority or similar statutory body on it anywhere? Anything about appeals on the back, and who to appeal to?

Please can you post a picture of both sides of that ticket?! If no scanner, use a camera (and cover the ticket number, location, date, your car reg, and refs/barcodes).

As a newbie you will need to replace the . with the word DOT in the URL, or just post the link without the http://

The ticket only has one side. I will take a picture on my iPhone and post it if that is OK?

Fraud IMHO, needs reporting to Trading Standards and the DVLA and local MP and local newspaper...etc.! Would like to see the style/appearance of that fake PCN Excess Charge though, in a photo if you can, (post a broken link) so we can help others in future when we see it again - yours is the first thread I have ever read about this bunch of knuckle-dragging potential crims.

Yes that worked, what an utter piece of illegal codswallop!

    As well as this bit:

''It is an offence for the person responsible (namely the registered keeper of the vehicle) who has left a vehicle in a parking space to fail to duly pay this charge. The penalty on conviction is a fine up to £500 in addition to the excess charge of £70.00''

as you say above, it also states:

''Failure to pay will result in prosecution procedures''

...Which is all complete lies. These people can't issue an invoice saying it's illegal and a criminal offence not to pay it!

    GOBSMACKED!

Could you also post it on this pepipoo thread, show the picture and make it clear it's not a real Excess Charge, point out that illegal wording and invite suggestions as to who you/your friend can report it to?

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60

Certainly the local Trading Standards & the local newspaper and (nationally) the Office of Fair Trading spring to mind. And you/he could email the local Somerset MP (as long as it's not that reviled man David Bellotti, now a Bath MP, who all BHA fans like me will detest until his dying day; his controversial involvement in Brighton is still on his wiki page!). Yuk! Made myself feel sick now thinking about him and his buddies - so maybe it's another MP local to that place!

I feel the firm should face prosecution themselves for such claims on that fake Excess Charge so I hope the local Trading Standards Office there are hot on this sort of thing. How dare they make up a criminal offence and £500 fine for not paying their useless invoice!

Thank you, I hope this helps others who face the same situation and your advice and interest in this issue is much appreciated.

I will post the issue on to that thread tomorrow and will send an email to trading standards down in Somerset once I hear from the DVLA tomorrow- then I will have a little more to give trading standards. I had figured that the "ticket" was likely to amount to nothing but thought it best to check here. I wonder if First Point will face any sanction?
