Number of things you could do to put your mind at rest.ring the number they say you gave, if its listed, ask them if they received a call.ask hotels 4 u to provide a copy of the telephone details you gave-it's looking likely this was your error though.
Always inform any relevant banks you are going abroad each and every time you go away.
Apply for a credit card-give it to your mum to look after for so your not tempted, just use as emergency back up in future. If you book a hotel and flight separately, you should be aware one or the other could be cancelled, even more reason to double check your emails before you went. If you had booked a package this wouldn't have been so much of a problem.
If you get cheap last minute deals great, but be aware of the risks involved.
I've booked loads of Ryanair breaks over the years and haven't been unlucky yet, I've had some fab cheap deals, but one day I suspect it could happen to me.
Hope you had proper travel insurance not just the ehic card.0 -
Wow really? The OP has already said they didn't have one, not everyone has one, I doubt they came for lecture just helpful advice.
Yes, really.
The OP has already said that one of their party owns a credit card.
So the helpful advice would be... next time the OP travels on holiday with her mother, she should consider asking her mother to bring her credit card with her... just in case the unforseen should happen.

Wow really? The OP has already said they didn't have one, not everyone has one, I doubt they came for lecture just helpful advice.
Again, yes really.
Where's the lecture ? My advice would be to take a credit card next time. Contrary to popular belief, it IS possible to own a credit card and NOT use it.0 -
Sorry, but I am really not sure what point you are trying to make.
That your comment was ridiculous.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

That your comment was ridiculous.
Really? What a well structured argument you put forward.
What is ridiculous about having a contingency plan?
The OP has already told us that a member of her party has a credit card, so whether everyone has a credit card or not is beside the point.
I'll say it again:In my opinion, it is always good to have some contingency funds available.
I'm sure you will agree that carrying around large amounts of cash is not a good idea.
The next best thing, again in my opinion, is a credit card, closely followed by a debit card.0
