Hotels4U.com left us stranded abroad

hello
first time use on the vent thread but i am so annoyed and getting no where with hotels4U.com i could really do with some advice.
we booked a last minute holiday with H4U online on the sat flying out on the wed. We booked the flights, trasnfers and parking seperately with diff companies using the same card.
We landed in the early hrs in Majorca to discover that H4U had cancelled our booking the day we flew out after we left. due to suspicious circumstances.
Fortunately the hotel let us sleep the remainder of the night to sort out later in the morning. H4U were totally unhelpful saying they had cancelled the charge and it was my fault for not checking my emails.
They supposedly called me(never got the call) when i asked them to repeat the number it was incorrect so i was accused of giving inacurate info. They said there was nothing they could do and that was that. We didnt have a credit card as the hotel was AI luckily barclays came to the rescue.
Now my issue is that i know my own telephone number they never contacted the bank so how could it have been suspicious they only saw the name and amount on the order. The same card was used for all the transactions and had more than enough money to cover it, the only diff was the address for the card but without checking with the bank how would they know that, it was my mums (she lives at diff address) and she came with us. So i can only assume they thought her name was dodgy??
They have come back with the usual BS about being within their rights but they could see they cancelled it day of flight so could have caused problems,. they have ignored emails from us and tweets.
I want to know what was suspicious about the transaction and if it was our name surely that isnt allowed??
our party consisted of 2 kids 1 oap and 3 adults

Can you sort of condense into what your are actually complaining about?
Did you incur any additional costs as a result?0 -
no we didn't incur extra costs. Its the fact they cancelled the booking while we were abroad and were stranded out there, it was a very frightening experience for us and ruinned the beginning of a 7 day holiday.
They didnt care at the time and have showed none since we returned.
I feel they should be brought to account for this not get away with stranding people abroad, if we didnt have the barclays we would have had no money for accomodation out there until out return flight 7 days later- I came, I saw, I conquered :j

There is a possibility of claiming for "Loss of Enjoyment", however as they rescinded the contract, I doubt you will get too far, particularly as you have had no expenses from it.0

Bad times. I once got stranded in Porto because of laterooms.com. I remember being a bit peeved at the time.
I suspect the best you can hope for is a discount off your next booking and if I was you I wouldn't use them again!
Good luck0 -
Sometimes things happen.
I had a hotel booked thought booking.com close the same day as I arrived in Belfast.
Needless to say I have not used them since.0 -
Whilst what happened may be a bit annoying. I don't see that a great deal of harm was done.0

They wouldn't need to check with the bank to receive possible fraud warnings about the card transactions. This is usually done by their card merchant services provider, that carries our various security checks.
Things like different card address to the booking address, changes in buying patterns, wrong phone numbers, can all contribute to a possible high fraud score.
How long before your departure did you book the holiday?0 -

A high value holiday departing soon if previous transactions have been low value would definitely flag up, but I would have thought it would have been noticed and cancelled earlier than 3 days after booking.0 -

Yes I have to agree.
Are the holiday company part of ABTA, or whoever it is these days?0 -
If the transaction for the hotel was flagged as suspicious and they couldn't get hold of you, the transaction was probably declined by your bank because the addresses differred.
Not really the fault of H4U. Especially if they did email you and you didn't check before you went.0
