Santander removing free travel insurance from my a/c - allowed to do this?

Yes the insurance company knew we were going to the USA, I recorded this conversation prior to departure. Not once did they say it was only European cover.
The T & C's stated we had to notify them of the trip, departures dates and return dates .
Sadly what happened was the first indication that Kate Husband had Terminal cancer.
Adding insult to injury they then claimed even if it had been worldwide insurance this would have been classed as an undisclosed pre-exisiting condition.. errr NO....Medical records prove this.
Any wonder I don't trust insurance companies these days.
Oh, BTW T & C's are always read before signing, it is the way policies are written and by the time you have trawled through the minutae of the clauses, you start to lose the will to live.
I used to trust bankers et al, not anymore.
There was a time if you were told something pre sale, it was the truth and you had faith. Gone are those days.0 -

Now I've got a letter from them saying the free travel insurance element is being removed.
Only "offer" to keep this is to sign up to their paid a/c for £2 a month.
Is this allowed? Why are they allowed to change the agreement?
Thanks,
Hobbin.Santander did the World travel insurance cover with the plus 50 which, of course is one of the accounts that's being finished.
the original account, which start with Alliance & Leicester (which is what I had originally) included free World wide travel insurance
after several years Alliance & Leicester changed the T&C's to cover European travel insurance only
so I suppose and assume they can do what they like under there T&C'S
to be honest I've been looking/thinking about changing/switching accounts for some time, the only thing that's kept me with this account has been the free travel insurance
the question now is weather to stick with Santander 123, or the Halifax, or First Direct ???0 -

Your wife can easily change from plus 50 A/C to 123 A/C and everything is moved automatically.

Yes but her only income is below the max permitted and all our direct debits are in joint names so she would have to increase her paid in income to the minimum for this account and also arrange for two direct debits, unfortunately all our payments are in joint names.0 -
I know this is not very NSA..I have two basic accounts, Ine I use fr paying my bills and the other is my everyday account. The only DD I have is for my Broadband on I have that on my bill paying account.
I have given up on the all the accounts with the bells and whistles. I am finding it easier and less hassle to get my travel insurance on a worldwide annual policy, pay my car inusrance annually in a lump sum same with the house insurance. I have wrned the bank if a DD or any sort of continuous payment gets whacked on the bank accounts they are not accept them unless I have set these up via the Branch.
I have a prepaid credit card, which charges 2% of the transaction, so I use this judiciously. Most of mny payments are via my debit card or cash. I might miss out n a few things, but they are then things I wouldn't be using anyway.
New OH has a current account with the bells and whistles and as he aks , 'why? I don't use these things anyway', At the moment he feels comfortable with this.0 -

Also, I don't believe when a card payment is presented at the bank it is tagged "warning, this is a CPA". This snippet of information is contained within the T&Cs/renewal documentation of the agreement you have with the supplier...all of which you'll read so will know.0 -

I am not stupid. I understand what you are saying, what I am saying is, if a DD appears on my account that I have not authorised and told the Branch of it happening, the DD is not to be honoured... I have been the victim of ID th e f t and the F word....finding several DD's on your account that you know nothing about and not having any business with the supplier concerned, is disconcerting to say the least, if you get what I am saying.
Yes these can be tagged on your file....0
