Couple of Huawei Ascend Y300 questions

Did not know whether to post here or Techie but here goes.
Thanks to the excellent thread started by LouLou (hope she is still watching) i bought the Y300 for my OH and this week treated myself:j My questions:

In the Contacts area it appears that each contact has a blank face area, is it possible to have an actual photo of the contact there, cannot find a way.

The ME widget on the home screen indicates you can drag widgets into it but the only ones available seem to be some of the preloaded ones.I have downloaded a Battery widget and would like that to be in the ME widget.

Your contacts can be synced with your gmail contacts. People can add a photo to their gmail account (and possibly to other email accounts?). If they have added a photo, then you see the picture when you receive emails from them and it will also appear in the contact list.

If there a no photos for any of your contacts it looks as if they haven't added one to their gmail account.

Any other widgets you download will initially appear on one of the other screens - you need to drag it across to the home screen.

If you are not sure how to do this, get anyone who has a droid to give you a demo.

Yes I have dragged the Battery monitor widget to the homescreen with the ME widget on (have you got a Y300, are you aware what the ME widget is?) but cannot put it on the ME widget as it does not appear in the list of widgets displayed.

Thanks. So I cannot actually put a photo on each of my contacts, I must rely on them having a photo already?

Edit: Just to add these are the contacts I use for texting and phone calls.

If you go to a contact number on your phone click on it then click on the big face
You will have an option come up with (take picture or choose photo from gallery) that means you can take a photo with your camera there and then or you can go to the gallery were the pictures are stored

Not to sure on the widget side because i took default widget off on my homescreen
I have a time and weather widget on the homescreen just called WEATHER.

Thanks, that is what I thought should happen and is one of the things I tried. However when I click on a contact and then click on the large face it lights up but nothing then happens, no options menu.
When I get my list of contacts page up and long press on one of the faces it then opens up a smaller than normal page of the contact's details.

Regarding the ME widget, yes I thought I might take it off as it uses up most of the homescreen space but if I could find out how to add my downloaded widgets to it I may keep it.

Have you tried turning the phone off and take the battery out and put it back in
I just added another contact to my phone and it works fine with the options coming up
I'm wondering if you have any pictures in your gallery that could be why
maybe you have to have some in there before it will come up with the option.

Just found something strange which may help you.
If I click on contacts and then click on myself, ie Me (not the widget!) at the top of the list and then click on the large face I get the options list and am able to load a picture of me (not pretty).
But still not able to load photos on other contacts.

Does that help.

Edit: just seen your latest post, yes I have a couple of pictures in the gallery.
Just thought, can you add the pictures after the contact has been created or only when you first create one.

are your contacts on your phone or on your sim card?
If on sim card then thats your problem
Yo will need to transfer you contacts to your phone and then will work.

Yes they are on the Sim card.

Now for the ME widget problem.
