Hi I am taking part in the unadressed mail survey. Last time I did it while emailing Claire from TNS for help I was told that I need to return my unaddressed mail at the end of each week in a plastic envelope. I am taking part again and cannot find any reference to this practice in any of the emailed or online instuctions. I emailed TNS again to clarify and Claire again said that yes I do need to send them to them. I havnt recieved any plastic envelopes and I am not sure that Claire is giving me the correct info. Does anyone know If they have to be sent back?

Sometimes when doing the unaddressed mail you are asked to send the leaflets back ...you should receive an envelope to do this if this is the case.
I have done many unaddressed surveys and not been asked to send any back ....so I think they only monitor certain postal areas.
I always keep all leaflets when doing a monitoring period incase I am asked to return them....and usually dispose of them when I receive the L2S voucher

  • Thanks for the quick reply, do you think that as I have not recieved any envelopes and that as I have not been asked specifically to send them back (either in the e-mail instructions or the online instructions) I should just ignore Claires reply and not send them back? (I am leaning towards this course of action as I am not willing to keep chasing them up to send me envelopes that I do not need in the first place)

My personal assumption would be if they wanted you to send the items back then they would send you an envelope to return them in...

Keep the items until the link drops off your home page and that way you have kept them long enough should there be reason to retun or query them.
This is what i have always previously done but as I said ive never been sent any instruction or envelope to return the leaflets....although I do know that some people are requested to return...its just I've never been instructed to do that.

Don't know whether I'm coming or going - TNS emailed me yesterday finally to let me know they had enough extra people to rejoin the survey early in my area. Now I've had the standard email asking me to come back for my next 6 months in March, they really do have a problem with joined-up thinking over there :D

I'm finding its only actually about 4 months between stopping one six month period and starting another *shrugs*.

I've just received an email from TNS saying that I will be rested in two weeks.

My brother in law has just started on the panel, but the items he has received have been very confusing, smarts being received with no information, paperwork missing from packet, etc. He is wondering what has has become involved with.

On the plus side, I had a considerable number of parcel stamps, which were incentives from TNS, and used £8 worth sending a special delivery parcel this morning.

It's definitely worth persevering, I rarely experience any problems with the panel.

I am currently on my 3rd unaddressed survey. Each time I have been sent sticky labels to stick to the leaflets and 5 plastic envelopes to return them in (although I have only ever used 3). If you haven't received these I agree that probably you are in a post code area that doesn't have to send back.
  • Has anyone moved house whilst doing the mail survey? We haven't got a date to move yet but I am hoping it will be sometime in March. At what point would you contact them? Now to let them know I will be moving and again when I have a date or just when I get a date which could be short notice.

I am also expecting to get rested any time soon as I have just checked and I started the beginning of August.

The added complication is that I am moving to a different postal area so I am guessing that there will be no guarantee that I will be kept on anyway.

And a quick reminder as I am having a blond moment :D , where the address differs, should I go by the online version, or the address that is on the sheet in the posting pack?

I'd let them know now because they plan about 3 - 5 weeks ahead with the packs. Go by the online address as that should be the most updated. HTH :)

I am looking for a little help in cancelling this.
Basically I signed up and then realised it was more of a commitment than that which I was suspecting so obviously I want to cancel.

I received my first SMART and recorded it and saw that it said I could put it in a free post envelope if I wanted to return it. I requested stationery as these weren;t provided. A second SMART arrived before I could send the envelopes arrived. I get the envelopes and so freepost the SMARTs back.
The next day another letter arrives to send out, I figured they simply hadn;t gotten the freepost part back. But a few days later I got a bundle with a £3 empty envelope and other bits with instructions and then again today I received another letter. I presume they should have the freepost SMARTs back by now? I know I definitely registered the first SMART and not the second so maybe that's causing confusion? Anyone know a way to cancel and how to get this all back to them? I don;t really feel I should keep the stamped enveloped etc as it is theirs.

Anyone had any experience of cancelling before who can help me out?
    Thanks in advance.
