NY the Big Apple......bite it now or later?

I've been given two UC flights (anywhere that Virgin operates) and am looking at a few days in NY.

When would you go (between now and a years time) and how long would you stay.

I have my own business but it is self-sufficient, in so much as the staff can run it for a few days.

We are two adults (husband and wife) and a flexible budget with shopping and the odd sightseeing trip needed.

TIA.

End of May/June is lovely. Long light days warm not humid like the summer months.

    I'd go for 4/5 days.

Thank you. Looking at 5 days was our initial thought. Although itching our fingers and thinking of November (wedding anniversary but at Thanks Giving) so not sure we want to be there then.

Where would you recommend we stay?

There is an everything new york thread on here search for it, check it out and post on there. Some very knowledgeable peeps on there much more so than me.

Thanks, I had a quick look but the one I found was 300 odd pages long, perhaps I should take a peek!

Must admit, I wouldn't waste a pair of UC tickets to anywhere in VA's network on the NY route - they're by far the cheapest US destination...

If you must then the Distrikt Hotel is pretty good - worth checking on Hotwire.com if you're looking for a particular class of hotel at a decent rate.

NYC isn't cheap by any means, its an American London.

Just go to the last couple of pages to get the feel of it, then go back further if you want or just put questions in the search box.

I would swerve New York and go West Coast to San Fran, go End of may for 5/6 days , rent a car and drive down pacific highway for a couple of days also.

    Thanks all.

TBH I only chose NY because the OH hasn't been. We have done SanFran before so it was an opportunity for change.

I appreciate some might think it is a waste of UC tickets, but we fly often and this is just a bonus trip.

Would be interesting to find out where others would go, given the flexibility of the tickets. Anywhere other than Australia.....

I would fly to Vancouver. We had a 3 week long road trip a couple of years ago, around Washington State, Vancouver Island and British Columbia, and we've wanted to go back to that area ever since :)

Miami would be my option in the US if you dont want to do west coast.

Of course you could do South Africa too - their summer and all that.

NYC is one of those places that you don't need to spend alot of money to get to IYKWIM - the routes are so competitive one airline has a sales on at some point.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE NYC, but its not cheap, there isn't great shopping if thats what you do and in November its going to be chilly...
