But based on the fact that the OP stated originally (before being picked up on it) that the railway was LESS than 4 ft away from the caravan, I'd not take anything else as necessarily factual (by this I mean the 'scar' from a scratch and the 1 cm gap around the door).

As the OP stated they have photos and are asking for advice on here, why not post those pictures so people can give an informed judgement about the 'scar' and the door.

The pics I saw earlier someone had posted from Google Earth do look like it's a good 40 ft away although the op still denies this even though there are now pictures.

I suspect that without the aid of Google Earth it is hard to judge how close the trains were.. the caravans in the bottom of the park appear to be up against the hedge that borders the railway. I would estimate that it is about 20ft from the line (its closer than the length of one of the caravans).

Yeah,I'd guess the couple that are right by the hedge are around 20ft minimum, others around 40ft.

I also can't see how anyone would honestly consider a claim for a bloomin scratch!

To be fair, If one of my kids was hurt from a nail sticking out, I would probably kick up a fuss too. Obviously we do not know the extent of the injury without pictures, however, the point of this forum is to point out potential avenues for the OP to explore.

I would too -at the park and when it happened.I wouldn't even consider personal injury or compensation though tbh

I would ask for a percentage back of the price paid if it genuinely affected the holiday (i.e. 20% maybe)

I am unsure if this is in the correct place, if not please say and I will remove it.

Just wanted a little rant as feeling annoyed.

I took my 2 children aged 6 months and 5 years to a caravan park in Tenby. We paid for a 'Prestige' caravan so was expecting it to be a nice (ish) caravan, which is was.

On the first night we discovered a railway line ran behind our caravan. We were not happy as this kept disturbing the 6 month old. (trains ran between 6am and 12pm. We rang reception and left a message as nothing was mentioned when booking about the railway. (we later discovered a 1cm gap in the door which is why the train sounded louder than expected)

The morning after we went into reception and was offered a move into a downgraded caravan which we had to refuse as the floor was laminated and was no room for the travel cot. They did say if we had let them know the day we arrived they would have gave us the option to leave and receive a full refund but as we didn't find out until after reception had closed we could not do this.

On the Tuesday my son cut his cheek (just below the eye) on a nail that was sticking out of a wooden frame surrounding the kitchen side. This was fixed the next day after we had rang through to reception to let them know.

Since leaving I have been in contact with them and have said they hope my son has fully recovered. I told them in my first letter that it has left a scar, they also have failed to respond to any of the complaints regarding the train.

I feel as though they are not taking my complaint seriously and not really interested as if they had read my letter properly they would have known he had not fully recovered as he has a permanent scar from it. They seem to think a train would not wake a baby but when it is under 4ft away with the gap it did make it very loud and shook the caravan and did in fact keep disturbing the baby.

Has anyone else ever had problems with Haven?

It really did ruin our holiday as baby was miserable from not being able to sleep and my 5 year old was miserable as his face hurt.

Can we get some hard facts on this as you seem to have an overactive imagination here.

The train line being less than 4 feet away was obviously wrong so I am guessing the 1cm gap in the door was more a few mm if any? Surely you would have noticed a 1cm gap the first time you closed the door?

Did you not notice/hear the train line before it was dark on the first night - or do the trains only run when it is dark?

I take it the nail sticking out wasn't obvious or you would have noticed it yourself well before the Tuesday when your monster put his face into it?

Well having Spent many a happy time @ Haven. I find it hard to believe that a child could not sleep through a train going passed.
Seeing children asleep in pushchairs in the entertainment rooms is a very common site with music going full blast.

Any child tends to be so knackered by the end of the day that no matter what they flake out.
