By all means get a cheaper one on ebay, but just don't expect to get Vi Sprung quality, they are that price for a reason!
This is a cracking bed for the money.......http://www.bestpricebeds.co.uk/restus-crystal-3000-natural-pocket-divan-bed-pid4506.htmlHelping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
I have a memory foam topped mattress that used to get hot, but I bought a stay cool cover for it and now I have no problem at all with it.
So a cool cover might be an option.0 -

Just remember you are going to spend 8 hrs a day (night) in there, longer than you spend in your car or even your house.
Puts it more in perspective I think;)
The thing is to do what you are doing, try them all out, decide, then find the cheapest place to buy the actual 1 that is most comfortableI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Which King Size pocket sprung mattress would you recommend then?
I have no real budget as long as it does the job.
That's almost a impossible job, with 100 different brands on the market, 1,000 of different models. Memory foam, latex, turnable, non turn. hand side stiched, tuffed, quilted, the list goes on.
It really is the case of trying them in store, taking your time and if you're price savvy take note of the models and try and buy cheaper online.
We are all different shapes, sizes and weights, what suits 1 will not suit all. But as a guide if you lie on your back you should just about be able to slip your hand into your lower back. If it slips in too easy then the mattress is too hard, as the gap means it won't support your back correctly. Likewise if you really struggle to slide your hand in then the mattress is too gentle (soft).
By all means post a list with links and I'll provide a guide to which is better.
Good luck.
P.S. As someone else has said a waterbed really is great and you can control the tempterature. I'm on my 2nd now.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

Why? as in how did the 1st one meet it's demise, I'm old enough to remember the waterbed sketch in Steptoe&Son,:rotfl::rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Waterbeds are like normal ones - they wear out and should be changed around 10ish years.
I've had one, they are brilliant to sleep on. Some activities took a bit of getting used to initially though.0 -

I have no real budget as long as it does the job.
I have a pocket sprung with latex on the top, it's very comfy. Latex is supposedly not as hot as memory foam.
I got mine from Dreams - they have a 40 night guarantee where you can return the mattress if you can't get on with it.0 -

No, not accepting that:D:D
Water doesn't push springs through the cover, as per a "mechanical bed".
It's qualities do not change, so that rules that 1 out too.
So, a guess, the cover wore out?????????????????????I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Small hole appeared in the bladder near the top, I patched and patched but wife kept ending up with wet legs in the morning through slow seepage!
Wasn't clever enough to get a new bladder so it went in the bin. Had a pocket sprung and memory matt on the base for around 18 months til the wife begged my to get another waterbed.
Current one is 5ft x 7ft with split bladders, so an upgrade in the end.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

In effect that is the Steptoe story I mentioned, I just wondered if they did actually puncture in real life;);)
By split bladder I assume you mean it isn't 1 mass of water sloshing about, it is 2 or more separate "bags".
I read "split bladder" and had a horrible flashback to your earlier bed :rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
