Mattress too hot and back pain!

Options
Until yesterday, for the last 4 months I have been sleeping on a pocket sprung mattress. Even though through the hot weather, I would sleep pretty well but would have some back pain (Mainly caused from my profession - IT).

Tonight I reverted back to my ergoflex memory foam king size mattress (pocket sprung is double) and within 3hrs I have woken up and over heated.

Prior to my pocket sprung mattress I suffered with this mattress with the over heating and in the end gave up and hence the pocket sprung mattress, although that was more a temporary solution.

I need a new king size mattress, one that will give me better back/shoulder support (I have rounded shoulders) and that doesn't retain heat like the pocket sorung mattress.

Any recommendations pls?

Think you mean doesn't retain the heat like the Ergoflex memory one.

Head into the shops and try some more pocket sprung matts, as different matts can be different tensions. Some firmer then others.

Remember support and firmness are too totally different things, something firm doesn't "mould" around the body, therefore won't be supporting correctly.

Do you want to buy online or happy to purchase in store.

  • Waterbed sounds obvious :D
  • Like you I'm looking for advice on buying a new mattress due to lower back pain! I've got the Flagstone king size sleigh bed but don't know which mattress to go for. Mistakenly bought a 3" memory foam topper then read Tim's comment that it shouldn't be more than 2 1/2 inches deep. Happy to buy online. Thanks for any help.

I'm sure that extra 0.5 inch made all the difference! not.

Pocket Springs are the way to go.

The Silentnight miracoil spring unit is nothing special. Pocket sprung is by far a better spring.

Can't you control your temp by sleeping on rather than in the bed?

I don't have a real answer for you but I have severe back issues, I have 3 vertebrae welded together.

I can't sleep on a memory foam mattress or topper, the stiffest pocket sprung jobby works as good as possible for me, but, given you have back problems, like me, you may be destined to always feel worse when you rise than when you went to bed.

    Never tried a water bed.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Just been trying out some beds and have decided on a pocket sprung mattress as the memory foam and latex are too hot. Tempted by the Vi Spring in Furniture Village at a hefty (discounted) £1060 delivered or should I try and get one cheaper on ebay?
