Hope to be recording the happy demise of my Santander credit card by the end of this month (£1020 in total), the first of seven steps to debt freedom!

What a great thread. I have paid of 4 debts since the beginning of this year and hopefully the rest, except for 1, will be paid off by the end of this month.
I still have one credit card which has something I paid for for my niece as she would have had to pay double if it wasn't paid as a lump sum. She is paying that back monthly though so it will be gone by the end of Jan next year too. The card itself has been shredded but the debt is still on there at the moment.SPC9 #125 - £816.85

All you "pay off-ers" and "nearly theres" are inspirational.
It's great that so many people are joining in the positivity!
I'm really itching to get the next pay-off which will be one of my overdrafts (£1,500). I even offered to pay off my wife's credit card. (her debt is my debt and all that!)
I'm a debt pay-off-er addict!
I don't wanna go to rehab, i said nooo nooo nooo.

^^ Agree!!
I think its really great to see people in debt are turning it into something positive! I've only been here a few days but MSE, and the support from everyone has made me so optimistic about my debt. I'm no longer afraid of it, and I'm proud of myself to tackling it. So many other people are in really hard times right now, I just wish they could see that its not the end of the world and that there is support out there for them!
Cant wait to read all your good news and I love nothing more when I see that someone is debt free in their signatures. Someday... I'll be there too!!0 -
Although this might sound a little strange, I wish I had my debt in different places such as loans\credit cards. As my dad has bailed me out I am just paying him back so I haven't got little targets like some of you such as paying of a card or a loan. It makes it seem like I am only chipping away at my debt very slowly, I know doing it this way is best for me but smaller chunks would be nicer.
I won't be joining the thread but it can still act as an inspiration, I could post when it is all paid off but that is a few years off as yet!LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Why don't you split up the debt you now owe your dad into the ccs etc you previously owed then as you pay your dad back you can tick them off your virtual list. Or break down the debt to your dad in chucks and come on here to celebrate each £500 or £1000 you pay off
It's all about keeping motivated:DCC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K

Thanks scotdebs that is a great idea. I like the thought of breaking down what I owe into the original debt amounts and then ticking them off the list.
Now all I have to do is find/remember what they were!LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Hello! Do you mind if I drop in?
I just paid off a toxic PDloan that had gone to a debt collection agency! :j
For anyone ever considering a pay day loan - in my experience they can only lead to snowballing rises for those who truly are desperate because of the cost of the monthly interest - try not to do it!!!!!!! I've learnt my lesson the hard way. :mad:Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0
