Yep, EKM are good. Just ensure you have sorted your domain name and email from another place independent to them.

If you want to sell then Wordpress is open source which makes it free. Thee's loads of plugins including free store plugins. It's also great for a blog. No coding knowledge needed and you can make it look really professional.

There are free hosts you can use, but if you want to sell you need to pay for a domain name and hosting. Just looks dodgy otherwise. There are plenty of cheap hosting sites and a domain name doesn't cost much.

If you didn't want the blog with the rest of the site (so to use it as a way to advertise your site and maybe get extra income) I'd sugest Blogger and adding Adsense to it. Blogger is free and so is Adsense.

Remember "free" & "good" don't usually mix well in the business world. I have had a look at my company, we do domain, hosting, email and privacy for £39 a year. If you cannot afford that, you need to think about working for yourself as you'll struggle.

Sorry to put it that way, but it just is.

Try ekm powershop its just £65 to join then approx £20 per month.

You can sell direct through the website and they have a free helpline and a helpful forum. You can take payments through it and they issue updates such as a recent free mobile site upgrade. They will also submit to all the search engines for free.

All you do is choose a template add logo and your items for sale, fairly easy to use (must be I did it). They have a free trial shop that you can play with, try it out.

I know it works as some of our products are on page 1 Google natural listings and we have made sales on a regular basis. And the beauty is it wont cost a fortune if things don't work out as you can cancel with just 1 months notice.

Good Luck and maybe speak you on their forum one day soon.

I don't think EKM Powershop is £65 to join.
I have recently joined and don't recall paying that amount.

I am happy to let anybody on my server for free to get setup if you want to use wordpress, all you need to do is buy a domain name.

I say this as I got going with somebody offering me the same, I will say wordpress is for blogging but you can use it for sites too without it looking cheap tacky, I can send you links to 2 sites I have built using it if you want.

no joining fee, just a free Trial and then £19.99 a month

but if you have a host then most will have something like Softaculous which has over 200 free scripts and then others like RVsitebuilder/Trendy Flash Builder/Breezi site builder which are build in site builder software
  • I recommend Jimdo - £60 per year with basic selling facilities or a free version too. Check it out. It's very easy to design your website, the SEO function is good too and my site looks very professional - way better than when I used Mr Site (which I'd avoid, by the way....)

eBay? Part of our business quite large bit gave up trying to compete on SEO etc with the big guns, they are spending less and selling lots more via their eBay shop then they ever did from their own site.
