That rather depends on what you want.
Is it a personal website or for a business?
Are you looking to sell products from the site or just advertise your services?
There are numerous threads on here from people "wanting a website" and they always end up with people giving their recommendations for hosts/registrars/designers/packages.0 -
Ok ty, will sit down later and go through them.0

The problem with free or cheap is that they often tend to look just that and will put off potential visitors.
It might be fine if the site is just for personal use, but if it is a business then you want to give a professional image and not have the hosts banners plastered all over the page stealing your visitors.0 -
Try weebly, free and pretty easy to use.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

Google Sites and Vistaprint are another two which have free options and well worth considering.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

If you just wanted to set up a blog you could use wordpress. You can make it look quite good and professional if you use the right theme.0

For our start up business we used Radical Solutions (based in Bristol). We started with their basic website (£99) but paid extra for a number of other things to tailor it to our exact needs. We don't sell from our site, so not sure if that's something they offer, but we've been really pleased with the end result and the service they offered. They are definitely worth looking at.0

I wanted to sell, but know that's asking a lot from a free site
Also hadn't thought of a blog but that's another option. Will do some digging and thinking - many thanks!

Try ekm powershop its just £65 to join then approx £20 per month.
You can sell direct through the website and they have a free helpline and a helpful forum. You can take payments through it and they issue updates such as a recent free mobile site upgrade. They will also submit to all the search engines for free.
All you do is choose a template add logo and your items for sale, fairly easy to use (must be I did it). They have a free trial shop that you can play with, try it out.
I know it works as some of our products are on page 1 Google natural listings and we have made sales on a regular basis. And the beauty is it wont cost a fortune if things don't work out as you can cancel with just 1 months notice.
Good Luck and maybe speak you on their forum one day soon.0
