Ryanair Boarding Pass Charges

Hi,
This is a warning and gripe about Ryanair's boarding pass charges.
I recently travelled with Ryanair from London Stansted to Ibiza and my friend forgot out boarding passes  (having checked in and printed them a week earlier)
We couldn't reprint them as we was within 4 hours of departure so Ryanair charged us £70 each (£210) to reprint 3 bits of paper from their automated machines.
How is this legal? It's totally overpriced and a total ripoff. Has anyone had any joy complaining about this?
For those interested to see how my progress is going I blogged about a bad service with Ryanair but I am not allowed to include links - so just google abadservice .com
I've read your blog and it sounds like you had a far from pleasant flight, but could you clear up some things?
You arrived 2 and a half hours before your flight and headed to the internet cafe. So, why didn't you reprint the boarding passes? Are you saying the Ryanair website facility was at odds with the 'you can reprint up to 2 hours before" promise?
You say you couldn't order food and drink until the descent, but surely the crew didn't continue this service when you were about to land? Are you suggesting the crew put revenue before safety?
You don't mention arrests on arrival, only that police took boarding passes from some passengers. This is hardly a penalty for somebody who has arrived at their destination. Police confiscated boarding passes and then let people go?
And how many couples did you see entering the toilet together? Did this get reaction from others in the queue?0 -
It's not a charge as such, but more of a fine. It's the same with car parking, £50 isn't proportionate to the 20 mins you spent in the Waitrose car park. The cot of the car parking you should have paid is like the cost of printing your boarding passes.0

If they are so against printing boarding passes for people, which I understand, why doesn't the website allow checked-in passengers to print the boarding cards themselves right up to the flight? Is the answer £70?0 -

Most airlines seem to have a cut-off for printing your own boarding passes, regardless of penalties for not doing so.
I suspect there's a valid admin reason for doing it.
£70 is a nice little earner for them but I think there are other reasons for the cut-off and the fine is just 'because they can'0 -
Oh my...
I've just read the blog and the kindest thing I can think of to say is this guy is an idiot!!
1. room booking mix up - why not pay the £200 and sort it out tomo, if you choose not to, don't complain you spent a night at the train station!!
2. Iron - you got an iron, find a flat surface and iron; seriously how hard do you want you're life to be? (TIP the floor is flat)
3. Empty seats on a train - sit in them and move if you're asked, you could have had a nice understanding guard who just wanted a quiet life and would have left you there.
4. i can't think what to say...what did you expect of a RyanAir flight to Ibiza, oh and YOU FORGOT the boarding passes, be glad it wasn't your passport and you could still travel.
If you are going to continue to travel, stop blogging about your poor perceived bad service and grow some thick skin!!!0 -
What do you expect. HE'S a JOURNALIST!
He is publishing (and promoting) his "blog" on bad service.
So he probably walks around looking for bad things to happen for the sake of a story.
Did these incidents really happen?0
