Does anyone have any remedies for getting rid of mouth ulcers other than using Bongela etc or tea-tree oil, lemon or lavender. I'm looking for something that if possible works quick and is also fair in price.
Thanks :A

I can't of course make the recommendation I was thinking of, but a) if you do a forum search for mouth ulcers the liquid I'm thinking of was mentioned before and b) if you go into a pharmacy and ask for advice they may make some suggestions other than Bonjela.
If you can't get rid of them you need to seek medical or dental advice - if it's a rough edge on a tooth for example you'll never be fully rid until you sort the tooth out! Plus there are some things available on prescription only which work even if they taste foul ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I personally rinse my mouth out in salt water. Yes it can be painful but for me is far better than days of painful ulcers that make it a misery to eat and drink. I personally find it quick and effective and also it is of course incredibly cheap.
I agree with the suggestion that anyone who suffers regularly from mouth ulcers should have a medical/dental check up to rule out anything untoward.0 -
Years ago my dentist recommended bicarb of soda mixed into a paste with very hot water and dabbed on the area."This site is addictive!"

Making a mouth wash with some luke warm water and a teaspoon of salt will take the edge off the discomfort of mouth ulcers and is a cheap and easy way to treat them. Remember that any mouth ulcer which lasts longer than 2 weeks should be checked by a dentist.0 -
Have you tried Propalis, a by-product of honey making process. The bees use this as an anti-sceptic for their hives, and I hear it is very good for any mouth infections. Of course, everyone knows that honey itself is good for mouth/throat health; are not most man-made cough remedies based on honey?keep smiling,

I've do the salt water rinses every couple of days because I had a couple of ulcers one after the other .........now I don't get them at all.0

If you keep having mouth ulcers, and have been checked out by both GP and dentist, it may be your immune system is running on low.
In my post in the Superfoods thread I've listed those supplements which research has shown improve immune function together with the natural food sources that contain them.
Might also be worth having your iron level checked.
I don't know if anyone has suggested live yoghurt may also be helpful, it's soothing and probiotic. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Thankyou for all your recommendations i have made a note of them all :A . I never even considered having my iron levels checked but i think i could do with it as i have got a few other symptoms that would go with that and as i take prescription pain killers its possible that my count is a bit low  . I actually do have a slightly lower immune system and have to have the dreaded flu jab every year as a precaution  so its possible i am run down and i have been feeling very tired recently too. Apologies to the board guides for not posting this thread with better wording, i did read the guide lines for posting but managed to confuse myself which isnt difficult
