Currys - faulty gas hob

Does anyone have any experience with Currys customer service, and if they're any good at sorting things out?
So far I have tried calling twice, spent 5 minutes going through their tedious automatic questions, then got cut off, so have emailed them!
I bought a gas hob, delivered a month ago, and when I had it installed by a gas safe engineer the other day, we found one of the "nobs" was faulty and doesn't click when pushed down, meaning it won't ignite the gas ring.
Obviously I can't return it, as I'd have to pay again for a gas safe engineer to un-install it, then pay AGAIN to have a new one re-installed.
Is it likely they'll just send someone out to fix it?! The receipt only mentions items that are faulty within 21 days, but we couldn't get it installed until the kitchen worktop had been put in!

Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Probably quicker and easier to get the manufacturer out, have a look at the paperwork that came with it.0

Pinkshoes, I believe you're a victim of the horrible automated system that automatically redirects you to the manufacturer, which when they are shut cuts you off.
But yes, it's more than likely that a engineer will come out to fix the fault instead of replacement.0 -

That could be right, as it makes you say the brand, item type, then the date you bought it!
I noticed the receipt actually says to contact them about faults 21 days from date of PURCHASE rather than delivery. I had it delivered 17 days after purchase!!
Hopefully they will respond quickly to my email.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Grrrrrrr I HATE CURRYS!
Useless company! I am SO infuriated I will NEVER buy a product from this company again as their customer service is so shoddy!
After getting cut off on their phone line, I emailed their customer service to get the fault sorted. They emailed back saying they don't do emails, and I have to phone their 0844 number.
So I phone it again, and it goes straight through to Hoover (gas hob maker) then 10 minutes later it cuts off.
I have now emailed Hoover but their online thing says labour charges for repairs of £X. It only gives me the option of booking a repair date.
My contract is with Currys, but I can't even speak to a human being at Currys.
Do I just phone Currys again, lie about the date I bought it so I don't get fobbed off and re-directed to Hoover?
Hoover's automated response just seem to imply that their engineer will just turn up on my chosen date, but will they be expecting me to pay???Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Is there not a phone number for Hoover in the instruction book you received with the cooker. It's just not worth the effort of trying to talk to currys.
The repair guy will just want to see a rceipt and then they repair it under the guarantee.0 -
Try getting a generic number on Saynoto0870make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I found a landline number for Hoover using this, and after 20 minutes on hold, I got to speak to a wonderful human being who is sending someone to fix it, hopefully at a time convenient to me!
So a great big thumbs up to HOOVER who have great customer service (albeit being put on hold for ages), and a great big thumbs down to CURRYS who clearly couldn't care less about their customers once they have your money, unless, of course, you have taken out one of their expensive aftercare products...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Right, this may sound really silly, but did the engineer also wire in the hob?
The spark on a hob usually needs to be wired in to work. Some operate via batteries, but this is rare. If you look, there should be a wire attached to the hob. Is this connected to an electricity source? If not, that's why your spark won't work.

Mama, I think that the wiring must be connected up as the OP states that it is only one of the knobs doesn't work when pushed down.0

I thought that too, but then I thought that it's awfully odd for any hob to have more than one spark, so just thought I'd mention it in case it was something that simple (it's something that caught me out with my first hob)0
