If I had a master switch for all of it, that would be really useful!!
There's one in the consumer unit. ;)

All good points, but worth noting that fibre broadband takes 24-48hrs to get "up to speed" following a power cut - I have tried it and it is true - so as I am paying good money for the fast speed, the turning off/on thing is not practical to ensure I get the benefits from the fibre speeds.

Good question and good debate btw. :)

If you have fibre via a BT line , then turning off the router has no effect, you need to keep the modem switched on though as that can cause speed issues :)
  • We leave our router turned on as there was a time when there was some issues with getting a connection after turning it back on.

We have Sky too and can remote record from work and/or mobile if I ever want something set to be recorded.
