I used to turn mine on and off but since I have bought myself an I-pad and the kids use wi-Fi all the time I just leave it on all day and night. It's quite amusing to turn it off and listen to them both coming out of their bedrooms like a shot asking what's going on lol!!!0

I'd never considered it to be honest, but even if it is only £5 a year, that's money saved and a little less drain on the worlds resources :money: I will turn it off at night and when we go out from now on.0

Same sort of thing here.
When I had a desk top computer and wired Internet access, I'd turn the router off when I turned the computer off.
But now I've got wireless access / laptop / iPad the router stays on all the time.
A) because the guy that set it up says it's best to keep it on all the timeso I can use the Internet whenever I feel the need.
The only time it's switched off is if we go on holiday.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Same in my household, as its in our room the lights annoy me so if I know SS will be out it goes off overnight. Funny though if he comes in and if he thinks we're awake he doesn't bother saying hello or anything just 'is the internet not on', otherwise if he's working and we're not in it goes off.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Interesting answers, seems quite divided too - the only thing that stops me turning ours off is technophobe fear that I won't be able to connect again when I turn it back on...0

Router is permanently on, only exception is if away for a few days or on holiday, though I always switch the wireless off if not using any wireless devices.0

Switching it off actually makes a lot of sense for security purposes. That way it's much more difficult for someone to attack it.0
