Partial Refund Query & 6 year claim

Its a 50" Samsung with 3 HDMI, USB, Freeview, 1080p Full HD, 20w speakers.
They had a deal on for xmas and then they have had the same deal on similar spec TV's every year.
If they do those sort of deals every year at xmas time maybe you could buy a cheap 32" tv to keep you going until the same fantastic offer is on again this year. Or try Freecycle/freegle groups to see if something is being given away0 -
The money they give is not supposed to be the full cost of a replacement. It takes into account the 4 years enjoyment you've had from the TV, they are being very generous with what they have offered.
43 months is more like 3.5 years, not 4, but the general thrust of your comment is valid.
OP - bear in mind also that depreciation is not linear. After 3 years I would expect AT BEST a 50% refund. They have offered you approx 40%, which, for 3.5 years usage, seems quite reasonable.
Perhaps push them for £275 but don't expect anything more.0 -

They have em all the time, I have found one that is a suitable replacement.
My issue is more to do with the fact it could have been repaired under the guarantee and it would have cost me 0. But now I'm having to fork out for a TV that I did not want to0 -
It would be nice if Samsung could read the Elapsed-Time-Indicator from the TV and then calculate the offer. Would you be moaning if the TV had been on constantly?
Do you know whats wrong with the TV? Was the offer £250 & you get to keep the TV? Can you not buy the part from eBay, or a broken TV and swap it?
Anyhow, back to the Maths...
6 Year Life therefore 72months.
£600/72 = £8.43 p/m.
You've had 48months useage, so that's £600-(43x£8.43)=£237.51
As a retailer, I would have offered you £237.51....as this would have been your loss from usage.0 -
But it can't be repaired under the guarantee, the part is no longer available. What to you want them to do? They can't fit a part that no longer exists.0

If only Samsung could see how much I have used the TV and I think the offer would have been nearer £500 as the TV has barely been used up until the last few months. It would seem easier to swallow if was as used as the TV in my bedroom which I paid £300 7 years ago and is on every night for about 5 hours
I came to £241 on 6 year calculator. as I have had it for 43 months. Sorry for the confusion.0 -

They cannot get the part
I can buy the part, its £579 same price as the telly. I was just trying to judge if it was a fair offer0 -
I have also sent a letter to my CC company under section 75 but not holding me breath0

Out of interest who is the retailer?
We mostly get people on here with a problem along the lines of a faulty TV just a few days out of the 12 month warranty and the shop failing to honour SoGA and ending up with independent reports and threats of small claims court to get any sort of refund.
It's quite nice to know there are still some good retailers who seem to be very reasonable with their offer, when my current TV finally fails completely I'd consider buying from this retailer.0 -

Curry's PC World and they are not that good, they dropped my TV on the way out of the house. They struggled to call me with any updates and even when I rang them to find out they were asking me to ring later.
Don't think I can recommend them. Great prices, poor service0
