OK, well if they're over 21, and did 8 hours work, the shop needs to pay them £6.19/hour minimum wage, so 8 x £6.19 = £49.52.
If friend was only paid £20, she needs to send them a letter giving them 14 days to pay the additional £29.52. She should send this as a letter before action, threatening court action if they don't pay.
There is no such thing as an unpaid trial in these circumstances. I believe there are a few exceptions, which is something to do with work trials for the unemployed via the job centre.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
