Mobiles.co.uk and Vodafone problems
Really sorry for the long post, it is quite a complicated issue but I have tried to condense it down, honestly! Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you. So if you are sitting comfortably.
On 12/7/13 I ordered one new iPhone 5 from Mobiles.co.uk on Vodafone for my wife. A few minutes later I received 3 emails with 3 different order numbers for 3 new iPhone 5 phones on Vodafone. I immediately rang Mobiles.co.uk (10p per minute average wait time 12 minutes) to advise them of their error. I was assured that 2 of the incorrect orders were cancelled, but ominously I was told that just in case, if 3 phones were delivered I should just accept one and refuse the other 2.
Lo and behold the very next day 3 parcels arrived. I duly accepted one and returned the other 2 as advised, thinking that everything would be ok, how wrong I was! I put the supplied SIM into the phone and it did not work. I filled in the Activation details on the Vodafone website and waited, turned the phone on and off as advised, still nothing. Checked my online Vodafone account and was horrified to see that 3 new expensive contracts had been set up. So immediately rang Vodafone and explained the situation, they could not help because Mobiles.co.uk had activated the accounts. So rang Mobiles.co.uk (10p per minute average wait time 16 minutes) and they assured me that they would cancel the 2 incorrect contracts but only after the phones were received back in the warehouse.
In the meantime I rang Vodafone again to try and activate the Sim for the phone I did have, they sent me a new Sim which I received the next day, inserted into phone which worked at last, I then made the tragic error of porting my wife’s number from her T-Mobile phone to the new iPhone 5, which of course meant that her old phone stopped working. After couple of days rang Mobiles.co.uk (10p per minute average wait time 12 minutes) and was reassured to hear that the phones had been received back, but it could take upto 5 days to cancel with Vodafone.
5 days later 1 contract was cancelled but that still left 2 contracts for 1 iPhone so I rang Mobiles.co.uk again (10p per minute average wait time 17 minutes) they said they would sort it and ring me back, but they never did! Couple of days later I rang Mobiles.co.uk again (10p per minute average wait time 19 minutes) and was told that there was a mix up with the phones and the IMEI numbers did not match and so Vodafone would not cancel the incorrect contract. They then advised me to return the iPhone 5, that I had accepted and they would cancel both contracts and then I could “start again”. So the next day the iPhone 5 that I had received was returned to the warehouse.
Because my wife cannot function without a phone I then ordered a new iPhone 5 which arrived the next day. Lo and behold the Sim in the new iPhone would not work; I filled in Vodafone’s online Sim activation form and waited. The next day I rang Vodafone to be told that they could not activate the Sim because they had no record of it, and so I rang Mobiles.co.uk again (10p per minute average wait time 11 minutes) and was told that they would look into it. I also emailed them as I was fed up with paying through the nose to talk to them.
Vodafone then emailed me to say that they had received my request to SWAP my Sim but needed more details, I immediately emailed them to tell them that I DID NOT want to swap Sims and that it was an activation for a new phone, this was followed every couple of days with further emails asking for details to SWAP the Sim! Each time I replied explaining that I did not want to swap any Sims and my number was to be left alone and the 2 new contracts should be cancelled. Waited another couple of days and decided that if I could not get my wife’s phone working divorce proceedings were imminent, so I ordered a new Sim from Vodafone on a 30 day contract, so I could cancel as soon as the problems were resolved. Sim arrived and worked fine, divorce proceedings avoided, just.
Then this weekend while I was out, suddenly my phone stopped working, couldn’t ring a taxi and couldn’t let anyone know where I was. I eventually arrived home to be greeted by am email from Vodafone, they were very pleased with themselves and had managed to SWAP my Sims. So now I assume have a working Nano Sim which unfortunately will not work in my Galaxy S2.
So now I am without a phone. I obviously rang Vodafone, on my wife’s now working phone. But the entire situation is now so complicated I was mysteriously cut off every time I got to speak with someone. So I resorted to emails, as yet without reply.
So 1 month on from the initial purchase(s) I still have one new iPhone 5 on 3 different contracts and my old trusted phone no longer works. I am waiting with baited breath for Vodafone and / or Mobiles.co.uk to sort this out and / or ring me back and / or just email me.
What do you think are my chances?
