As I think I've stated before, if it was just noise, it wouldn't be a problem.
That's why God invented ear plugs.
If it was just chalk marks on the pavement it wouldn't be a problem.
It's everything else.
The chewing gum spat out onto the doorstep, the petty vandalism, the food attracting vermin, the junk from someone's bin or flytip landing on the doorstep, the inappropriate stuff mailed or poked through the letterbox and so on.
They were 'knocking the door' and running away by kicking lumps of paint off my newly painted door and now they managed this - ripping the escutcheon cover off the mortice lock.
I'm fed up. The local police are too overstretched to cope with everything although they were sympathetic and the ASB Officer for the local council wanted to help but was ham strung by the fact that most of the tenants around there are either private or not council tenants.
I've got to find a way of coping with this or I'll be rocking in a corner by September. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I feel your pain, Gingernutty. I spend the whole of the summer listening to kids kicking footballs in the street, entirely unconcerned when they bounce off the cars in the street. They are loud, rude, messy, drop litter and half eaten food. Their parents don't care.
Then there is the noise at night from others in the street, when we are trying to sleep (my husband has to get up at 4.30am so we are in bed relatively early). Shouting, laughing, kids playing (at midnight on a weekday), car doors slamming, engines revving, music playing. Then there is the house parties... Our choices are close the windows to get some peace and melt or have them open and be endlessly disturbed.

Ginger nutty - have you seen a GP? I appreciate medicine won't solve your problems but with the amount of trauma you are dealing with some counselling may help support you. I wonder if your local media would be able to help in any way, put pressure on the powers that be for example. I wonder if a show like watchdog which is supposed to be about helping consumers may have some advice for you at the very least. I am so sorry to hear of all you are going through." I sympathise-I've put up with neighbours and their kids for just over 2 years and am now moving house. I reached breaking point when one of the kids threatened to kill my dogs.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Just out of the random blue....
I've been battling Japanese Knotweed since last year.
The weed originates from a piece of fly tipped land three doors down and it's spread to the two houses either side.
The tenants don't care if I carry on into their gardens and start litter picking or tackling the weeds and so I do. They won't.
I want to sell my house at some stage and tackling anything that might prevent the sale going through may make a good sale price possible.
I've taken down and burnt the old knotweed stalks (a weird cross between television aerials and lightweight bamboo) and today, I was tackling more stems and the dead leaves.
And. That's. When. I. Found. The. Shotgun. Cartridges.
They were red. The ground is littered with little red plastic bits and my heart races at high speed when ever I spot them.
I took the four I found to the police station who unhelpfully said that they wouldn't dig up the gardens in the search for more.
Spoilsports.
Someone from the local council is going to assess the situation tomorrow. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Gingernutty, the knotweed needs to be reported to the council, you can be fined for not disposing of it properly, and it has been known to survive being burnt, you should get on the case with this pronto, and tell them about the source. Is there no way you could hire a very big bloke for a fortnight when the weather is much warmer and the kids will be out every day, he could be on guard near the door and as soon as they come near open it and say what do you want in a menacing voice, little darlings would be scared off I'm sure, then he could make an appearance once a week or so thereafter making sure the kids see him, so they never know if he's there or not, sounds bonkers I know, but it might just work!!0

Who knows?
Whether they were part of the original fly tip, or whether they were hoicked over the fence at a later date, who knows?
Two bodies from the council came to visit and assess and take photos.
I probably won't hear from them again.... Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I'm surprised the police weren't more interested. At least they could check the registered gun owners list to see if anyone in your area has a shotgun." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
