  • Just kicking things off now as guests stayed over last night and have just left. Here's my list:

    15 minutes..
Tidy up, put things away, straighten those piles - there better already
    30 minutes to spare...
    Hoover the floors
    Dust electricals, screens etc
    Do one bit of paperwork
    Got an hour...
Hoover/wipe the sofas (I might take of the covers and put them in the wash, they're looking a bit off-white haha)
    Wipe the skirtings/lightshades and bulbs
Time to deal with something else on your desk or sort out the drawers
    Extra Mission:
[STRIKE]Wash your door sausage or make one if you need it[/STRIKE] Is it bad I found the words door sausage hilarious? :o I don't have/need one though.
Check kids pencil cases ready for the return for school, no kids sort your own stationery, think about planner/diary for next year if you like a 16 month one
    October Grocery Challenge: £20.65/£150
September Grocery Challenge: I lost track :o/£200
    August Grocery Challenge: £92.11/£100 :)

Your comment about the off white sofa covers reminds me, can someone recommend a way to get my sofa back to white. It's grimy and grubby. I would like to dye it, anyone got any experience with cold water coffee dyeing?

This took considerably longer than 15 minutes, still not finished but made a big dent in it!

Also continued with doing laundry, drying and putting away, dishwasher on and emptied, kitchen swished over and dog beds cleaned...
Think that's all I can manage today, now time to make some lasagne and walk the dogs!
Saving for my first car: £300/£3500!
  • Sofas wiped, LR/DR/hall hoovered, sorted through hotspot of paper on coffee table, fed next door's cats. I need to pick up the bits of tennis ball the dog has left all over the LR floor now :(

1 load washed and on line, although it doesn't look very promising out there.

I need to put all this paper in it's correct place now & then look at some paperwork. I nearly ate a frog! I needed to check all the payments were done on DD1's TV licence & then cancel the d/d. I have checked it all, but it is part paid in advance & part in arrears, so the last payment is not until Feb 14. Then, when she leaves uni I can apply for a part refund. I have diarised to cancel the d/d in Feb, so I guess I have eaten the frog really :)

I have tired offspring here. DD2 was clubbing last night & got in at 4am. She got more sleep than DS who 'slept' over at a friends. They ended up laying on the trampoline in sleeping bags & watching the meteor shower! Result - NO sleep. He is barely functioning, so he will have an early night! We lasted until about 12.30am. I might try again tonight, as I don't have to be up tomorrow.

[STRIKE]Little pile of paperwork to file[/STRIKE]

Best bit of the day, I seem to have decluttered the half-stone of water retention I was carrying around thanks to my course of medication -- not as panicky about fitting in my wedding dress anymore :jMakeup brush scrub can wait til tomorrow as I need to use them and can't if they're wet. Will give my buffing brush a quick spritz of isopropyl to make sure its not a germ fest! Off to mucky up the bath with a nice hot shower then nip to Sainsbobs for dinner, talcum powder (for OH, ugh, dust everywhere) and a nice bottle of wine.
  • Just a couple of Qs for those who have been flying here a while:
-Do you follow the other stuff from flylady's site like the control journal thing?
-How do you organise your calendar/diary (any links to good ideas would be appreciated)?

I went over to that site to have a look once, and had to have a lie down in a darkened room, followed by a quick rub down with a microfibre cloth. Far too scary for me - she takes it all much too seriously. In terms of a diary - I do think about spring cleaning in the spring ... and then I go and have another lie down. Every year. I think I'll diary that for next year, while I think about it.

The national firework championships are in Plymouth tonight and tomorrow night, so there's very little traffic around where I live at the moment as the roads are all closed, hurrah! We've been invited out on a friend's new-to-him boat and if getting back in through the lock gate is anything like last year, the year before and the year before that, we'll be watching the meteor shower at 3.00 am in Plymouth Sound. Not a bad way to end the day, as long as there's plenty of red wine to go with my blue cheese dip - decluttering stuff from the fridge. Does that count, Dusty?
    Better is good enough.
