Broadband live date question, can you help me please?

Hi I hope you can help me? I was with TalkTalk (my last phone bill was £33.45. I wandered into a Carphone Wearhouse shop looking to upgrade my mobile phone, and we got talking about Sky broadband. he signed me up to Sky Unlimited talk anytime (is that the right name for this package?)

Apparently I can use the internet 24/7, and and the landline (not lieterally as ear would fall off!) for £24.50 a month (or did he say year?) and then £29.50 when the offer ends.

They are going to send me a modem and my live date is 20th August. I have had a letter from TalkTalk stating that I need a MAC code otherwise they said my internet wouldn't work.

I am a bit worried about rigning them because the customer services are not very good and they have idian accents which I cannot understand. My main reason is that they will refuse me this MAC code harraging me to stay with them. :womanfrustrated:

Can you please advise me what I should do please? I thought Sky would be sorting this out. :undecided

Many thanks and hope you can help me.

You appear confused and not fully understand what you have signed of for.
Its odd that CPW would want to sign you up to Sky, as Talk Talk is a CPW group company ( or at least it was.).

    1. To avoid a £30 cancellation charge from Talk Talk you need to obtain a MAC from them and give it to Sky.

Assuming you don't have Sky TV, then the pricing for Sky LLU unlimited boradband and calls is:-

    Unlimited Broadband £10 / month.
    Anytime calls £5 / month
    Line rental £14.50 / month.

    Total:- £29.50

If you have Sky TV then you would get a £2.50 / month discount on the broadband

Sky have a half price offer for broadband on their website atm..

They can't refuse to supply a MAC, they have 5 working days to do so.
No MAC means a £30 cease charge on top of your final bill.
Are you actually out of minimum term with TT though? If not you will pay an ETC as well.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

What is ETC? When I ring up for the MAC code, should I ask when the final bill for payment will be?

ECT Early termination charge? Are you within your initial contract term with talk talk? You can always ask. But don,'t cancel, that's why you need the Migration Authorisation Code.

I think it's monthly, but I am not going to cancel until Sky broadband is up and running, and I find out when the final bill from Talk Talk is.

I hope Sky send me a wired router, and not a wireless one.

No it's not monthly. Your minimum term (what's 'slang' about that?) will probably be 12m or 18m depending on your particular contract. Refer to your contract terms.
If you are out of minimum term, then your notice period is 30 days.
    All modern routers are wireless.

Are they easy to set up?

I had a word with Sky and I was told that I don't need to ring Talk Talk up for a MAC code.

Yes, it's a simple self-install, like all ADSL services.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
