I did a car boot once and never again, although i sell new toys.

I usually sell toys at country shows/summer fairs, so just over the summer so my toys are summer toys.

last Oct. i got invited to a fair on a Saturday, but due to van troubles i had to hire a van and could only hire for the whole weekend, so meant the van would sit all day Sunday, so i decided on the Sunday to go to a local car boot sale ( they run all year) indoors in the winter. but everyone seems to want things for nothing or next to nothing.

Collection only is always a nightmare on ebay and best avoided if you want an easy life.

I could. Considering that or Gumtree for some items, but I'd rather do a carboot first and if they don't sell then try collection for bigger/awkward items.

Got a lot of items and don't really want so many people coming round to buy them, enough hassle with just one item lol.

If you know your items will sell for £10+ on eBay, I think eBay is the place to sell them. If you sell them at a car boot, expect dramatically less for them.

Personally, I'd avoid wasting a Sunday at a car boot (and all the unsavoury characters of ill repute that you will encounter). I'd photograph and list your items tomorrow, taking advantage of this weekend's free listing weekend.

Don't forget, if you go down the bootsale route, you'll have to pay for a pitch and spend the whole day deterring thieves - I'd prefer the lesser inconvenience of listing things on eBay and a trip to the post office, which I think will be dramatically more lucrative.

I've done a few carboots, but it's been with my friend and selling her stuff - mostly media.

You're right, everyone does want something for nothing. Once said we wanted £5 for an item and this woman tried giving us 5p...

I can't be sure. Most are US sellers so it's hard to say if I were to sell them whether people would buy them as I'm in the UK and clearly postage would be far less.

Got some carboot only items and some items that would do alright on ebay and others I'm not sure about at all lol.

i had a better one than that.

I had a childs 12" bicycle still in its box RRP £60 but i was selling at £30 ( shows how much profit major retailers make) and still make a good profit, but this bloke was trying to shove £2 in my hand for it. I refused, but just before the end of the day this woman asked if i would take £25 for it. I accepted the £25 ( yes it was £5 less profit) but it was one large box i had not to pack away and then store until my next event
