Seller sent wrong item.

  • I would give them credit where it's due for resolving it. Anyone can make mistakes - it's what they did after that. thanks for the update.

    I'd give top marks for sorting it out; mistakes occasionally happen, it's not the sellers' fault the other buyer was an ar5e !
    The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

    I see what your saying, but it was the seller that sent the things to the wrong person.

    The other person was under no obligation to get the item to me, nor was I to send on their item.

    I think neutral is fair. I'd say no stars would make sense - it would either be that or mark them down one as the seller did make a mistake and you had to post the item elsewhere. Marking them down does seem a bit harsh though as they did sort it and he got on at the other buyer, who probably isn't happy and could well mark the seller right down on everything.

    sure but absolutely no-one is perfect. Imagine the roles reversed, you are the seller and have worked hard to sort it out, you have demonstrated you are 'one of the good guys' so you deserve good feedback.

    I'd probably leave no feedback - personally think a positive isn't really warranted, but a neutral is overly harsh.

    Ultimately the seller made a mistake, but they worked hard to resolve it which is important - it was the other buyer that held up the process. Had that other sent your item as quickly as you sent yours, would your thinking be any different? If so, then IMO a neutral is harsh.

    We all make mistakes, I've been sending out dozens of items in the past week, and I'm always pooing it that I'm going to send the wrong item to the wrong person.

    We're all human, we muck things up occasionally. If the seller did their best to sort it out, why hammer them on the feedback for what appears to be a genuine mistake?

    Bad feedback gets rid of sellers, they sold you something that you wanted. Do you want to get sellers kicked off of ebay, so that you can no longer buy from them?

    I don't sell often, but when I do I triple check that the item is going to the right person, I triple check addresses to make sure they're correct, I make sure it's all well packaged and posted asap.

    I know people make mistakes and, if it's a business, mistakes are more likely due to the volume of sales. The seller may be one of the good guys and I don't think they deserve negative feedback.

    However, it was not a good transaction. Not all of it was the sellers fault, but the second part happened because they made the mistake in the first place. Neutral feedback reflects that. It's not saying they're bad, the OP wouldn't be ruining their stars, it's just showing that the seller did make a mistake.

    Neutral isn't really going to have any affect on the seller. People rarely care about negatives now, never mind neutral. They don't deserve a positive, they don't deserve a negative so neutral makes sense.

    I'm not up to speed on the feedback system any more, but a neutral was actually viewed as a bad mark and affected your ratings.
