I have regained weight after doing well on the Cambridge Weight plan. I have tried to find out the long term success rate before embarking again. I have previously tried slimming world but got confused with the combos
Any advice would be appreciated

Try watching the series 'The Men Who Made Us Thin'. All about the diet industry. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
I also wonder this as I am on the Cambridge Plan at the moment.
I wonder if it depends on how much you have to lose in the first place?

This makes me sound really annoying, but whenever I've done a specific diet I've never kept the weight off, I think you have to completely change your lifestyle to a degree. Doing a plan and then reverting to *normal* or a degree of normal will always have an impact to a degree, I think.
I have done a few different diets but now I just eat less and get out with the dog more. It really does work for me, regular exercise even only 2 miles walking with the dog a day has a huge impact in speeding up metabolism. Before I eat stuff I've learnt to ask myself whether I need it or just want it. If I just want it then I think twice about it! I don't think I have great self restraint either, but it is enough for me.0 -
Yes, I lost 8st in 9 months doing Cambridge 4 years ago. Felt fantastic.
At that point I wanted to lose another 2st but problems started in my marriage as my husband felt left behind, that I had withdrawn from family life somewhat, not eating with the rest of the family and going out more with friends (as I had a lot more confidence) so I gave up the diet and the weight went back on.
Took me 2 years to put it back on mind and I had a couple more attempts at Cambridge during that time, but I personally have found your first attempt is your 'golden shot' and it's never as easy after that.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

Nope!
The key to my 'diet' is not to diet. I have just cut down on treats and alcohol, but refuse to cut anything out as i know i'll want it even more.
Have lost a stone since Chrsitmas, which i know is slow but slow and steady wins the race.0 -
Once you've lost the weight on your chosen plan, you need to fundamentally address why you became a fat in the 1st place....bad diet, laziness, overeating, comfort eating, whatever. Eat a balanced healthy diet with some exercise. Once you do that, the weight will stay off.
Lost over 2st on cambridge and kept it off.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
You can't lose weight with a regime like the Cambridge diet and keep it off unless you acknowledge what led to the weight gain in the first place and totally re-educate yourself with a whole new healthy living lifestyle.
Far too many people lose the weight, tell themselves they're not going to ever let themselves get that fat again but gradually slip back to the same eating (and drinking) habits that put the weight on in the first place.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

95% of diets fail. That is, 95% of people who lose weight through dieting regain that weight, and in some cases more. That's what makes it such a profitable industry - people go back. And back. And back.
The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to change your eating habits for good."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
My weight has been up and down like a yo-yo all my life.
Had a lightbulb moment earlier on in the year and realised "diets " don't work .

I've been losing and gaining the same stone for the past 8 years. I'm so bored with it now, I'm not hugely overweight but still wish I could shift that blooming stone and keep it off. I've tried every diet going, including the don't diet, just stop eating crap diet. I swear I will get to a point when I just give in and realise I'm meant to be slightly padded in the boobs and bum areas.:A
