Something Fishy going on

Right hello :)

Was lookng online last month and seen a direct debit for £13- santander cards.

Had a think and had no idea what it was, so rang them up and was told he couldn't find out any information and to cancel the D/D, if i get a letter through i would then know what it was.

Well i got a letter through

Client name : Retailer account

So i rang them up.

According to them in 2007 february i made a purchase of £325, they can;t see or find out what i purchased or where i purchased it. Only that it was Edge Card.

So i have been paying £13 a month since 2007.

Which i roughly work out at £1000 roughly.

My balance is £277, so in the last 6 years and 6 months i have only paid of £48 of the purchase, even though ive paid £1000 to them.

Now even the woman on the phone said something is not right, but im fuming, ive never had a statement, or a credit card, yet i owe and have paid this money since 2007, for something i don;t know.

She said someone from the specialist team will ring me back and she can;t find out any more information.

Only thing i can think of is i bought a pc in pc workd in 2007 and was financed over 4 years, so it can;t be that, unless someone somewhere has entered the wrong information.

Any advice on what i should do?

Thanks in advance

Edge finance I'm pretty sure was what used to be comets finance choice, if you didn't pay up before the interest free period was up then the apr used to be around the 30% mark, the interest will have been backdated and you'll have gone onto a monthly payment. You need to dig out your details for this purchase.

been told the £325 was interest free for 3 years on edge card,a nd payments only started in 2010 at 29.9 %

    in 2007

i pucrashed a pc, from pc world and alloy wheels, both payments came off straight away, so it cant be those.

Have you got proof that you've paid your p c and alloy wheels off? Edge could be for halfords too. You need to get proof that those items have been paid and perhaps google edge finance and see who else they supplied.

    Hi, looking back.

My pc world pay,ent was HFC, which is finished with.

So leaves my alloy wheels, i cannot remember which company i bought these from? Wasn't halfords, im pretty sure. was a company online.

Now Santander told me my payments started in 2010, as it was 3 years free interest, now looking back the payment started with GE Capital in May 2008???

Have you checked what the account appears as on your credit file? E.g. dates / balances / lender etc?

    Okay

Done more digging, im 99% sure it is my alloy wheels and was with the Edge card.

Payments started in May 2008 at £20, and dropped each month slightly.

According to Santander, the finance was 3 years free interest, and they said payments only started in 2010.

The website i bought the wheels from were called Rimstyle

    http://www.rimstyle.com/pages/alloy_wheels_finance_options.html

This is the only finance i can see on there website, but i dont think they use edge card anymore.
