I use apartments when we visit OH. Centre of London can be cheaper than hotels, only downside is often the key pick up is not close but only a short tube ride. Worth looking at.

Here is an example of an apartment

Holiday Inn usually have two queen beds in rooms. We have a teen too and have never had an issue. A child is often up to 12 so in lots of places you will have put 3 adults in the search box.

I must be missing something. I've booked/stayed in hotel rooms with 3 adults loads of times, including 3 weeks round California in a different motel each night.

    Why would it be sleazy?

Agreed, I went to New York with my Mum and Dad and rather than spend the money on an extra room, we just all shared. No biggy.

Me and OH prefer to stay in apartments. You get more space and you can, if you want, cook for yourself to save money on eating out.

It often works out cheaper than a hotel

sorry, this is going to sound really picky. I was hoping to find somewhere a bit less soulless than a premier inn/travelodge. I know they're a possibility (altho London availability is tricky)

Youth-hostel doesn't really appeal either, I'm a bit disabled, and need en-suite (or at least own bathroom, so DH can help me in/out of bath or shower).

I'm getting my info from booking.com & such sites. I guess I hadn't thought of booking for 3 adults - to me that seems sleazy !!

    What ???? :rotfl:
    Why ???
If I go to a show with two female friends (I'm female btw- I originally wrote two girlfriends but thought you'd think that sounded sleazy too ;) ) in London and we book a room for three adults how on earth is that in any way odd. There is no rule that says people can only stay in a hotel as adults if they are a couple only :D

You can get ensuite family rooms in many YHA places (times have changed they aren't all dorms nowdays) and plenty of chains (not just the budget ones) have rooms with a double bed and a sofa bed for exactly your situation.
