Ok this would be a better and safer option, as long as the generator is under cover

And this with RCD trip switches.

Still not ideal. A tent isn't really sufficient to keep it weather proofed long term.0 -

I agree its not ideal and obviously would be safer hard wired.
But the OP cant find anyone to rewire it for him.
So the option with the RCD sockets is as safe as can be without needing an electrician.
If water gets to the electrics the sockets will trip out.0 -
If doesn't have water resistant IP rated sockets on the generator, then the generator was not designed to be water resistant in the first place, adding IP rated sockets isn't going to change that.
The 16A socket listed by JC is the ideal way to go, purely for security of the connection if nothing else, but the generator itself needs covering from the elements anyway.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Cover for a generator:

My Honda EU10i can with normal UK 13A socket, I fitted a blue socket similar to the suggested as is is much more secure and the socket is splash proof.0 -
Thanks all!
I just wanted to add that this would be connected to a trailer and the trailer has it's own RCD installed and then goes through to sockets - does that help at all?
I'm getting the cover in the interim, long term I'm not sure about that.0 -
If the trailer has it's own RCD then it should have a blue plug input already on it, then you will need a suitable extension lead from the generator to the trailer usually orange in colour. Depending on which way you go re the socket on the generator you may or may not need the European Mains Hook Up Adaptor above as well.0

And you may need to add a earth connection, depending onwhat your planning to plug into it!!lbm 11/06/12 dept total 11499.470

The links I have posted, help the OP.
He only needs the patch lead from my post.
He already has RCD in his tent.
Your all just trying to confuse the OP.0 -

The OP.s generator is European.
I believe they are wired opposite to ours.
So your link will only work with the patch lead I put up.
You put up links to an extension lead. That's it. Helps the OP ZERO0 -
Well all sorted now :-)
The generator was rubbish and it's now on it's way back to the seller.
Here is the link for it;
