Well... I don't know whether to laugh, cry or swear! Took my 14yr old to town today, and while we had some lunch I saw them... those little white dots behind his ears, stuck like concrete. Jeeeeeez, here we go again.
I have text his girlfriends mum to warn her, and she said one of the girlfriends friends had them and passed them round her household on numerous occasions - this visiting girls mum cant be bothered to treat her daughter and so they have had a battle over the summer.
so there you have it, post on the internet and give help and advice and booom! wadya know, a problem not had in years rears its head again.:rotfl:
Can nits be sent over the internet?!

Some serious overkill in this thread.
Nits pass from person to person, then die very quickly off the head, eggs aren't going anywhere, they are glued to the head.
All the boil washing is totally unnecessary. So is treating the whole house, it is actually advised not to. As it is bad for forming a resistance. A comb through with conditioner is all that is needed for those that need checking. Then treat the infected one.
I think some of you are confusing nits with worms. That does require a whole house strip down and bleaching and boil wash. Nits, that is overkill.0 -

I see your point but to be fair there has been very minimal overkill and has been corrected in an informative way. there'll always be a certain amount of panick so far as parasites are concerned
overall I think this thread has been pretty lighthearted and supportive as well as informative. x0 -
I feel so awful that if it is nits/lice then I've left her suffer for so long! I can't imagine how the hell she got them in the school holidays - it did say online that they don't always appear straight away, so the only thing I can think of is that she caught them when she slept at her friend's house twice earlier in the holidays ("friend" then decided to turn on DD so they haven't met up since).
Don't feel bad - the first time my son had them (when he was about 3) I tried itchy-scalp stuff, etc, and didn't realise it was nits until the poor little sod was crawling with them. It just didn't occur to me!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
