That's the worst of it, we're battling fleas with our cats too at the moment - I've never known such a hardy infestation!! Nothing seems to be working.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • well thats us done, 2 till now to comb through, used some vodka 70% vol, it seemed to slow them down (got em pi55ed) but dodnt kill them i put one in a bath of vodka on a plate and left it there till i finished, dried it up and checked if it was still alive and it was albeit not able to move properly i put under the thumb nail and heared that pleasant crack, did notice the newly hatched were paralised though so worth it to stop them crawling to places other than where your combing, watch the eyes and cuts it can sting a little. i just went through 3 bottles of conditioner, nitty gritty got out much more than the normal kit treatment comb and with the vodka treatment many tiny ones came out, so just kept going till 1 or two per every 5 strokes of the comb were coming out in the conditioner.

the wife is now on a bleach streak in the kitchem diner where we did the combing, beds stripped and hoovered and bedrooms hoovered all contaminated clothing on boil wash, and some on soak in detergeant.

nitty gritty going back tomorrow lifetime guarentee as the last few strokes of the hair of my wife dislodged one of the fingers. £11.50 that thing cost!.

Nitty gritty Combs on offer in boots.. Third off so £8.12 (if I remember correctly)
I also second the "Zapper" which electrocutes them and the eggs! Keep long hair tied back tight this stops spreading...
Children are born with wings .... Teachers help them to fly
One day your life is going to flash in front of your eyes.... Make sure it's worth watching!!!!!

70% vodka! that'd kill me! where you buying that ha! :rotfl:

seriously though, relax a little on the clothing bedding and carpets - these are not bed bugs, these are nits, they needs hair and that is all. dont waste your energy bleaching and hoovering and boil washing :)

shame you're having to sending nitty gritty back tho, I'm surprised its not worked for you x

Yes, I was quite comforted to read that they don't last very long at all on bedding and stuff - once they're off the head they die pretty quickly. I bloody hope they do anyway!!

They absolutely do die very quickly! I should have maybe said that they need a living host with scalp and hair to clarify. :rotfl:

(You wouldnt believe some of the medical papers I read when we were mid battle - it was almost an obsession :rotfl:)

Glad to hear the vodka worked atrix! Hopefully you'll be rid of them now. And yes it stings badly if you get it in your eye!

Many years ago my mum gave up on the nit combing and took me to the barbers and said "all off". Every boy in my class had a skinhead cut.
  • I got nits about 3 years ago and the only thing that eventually got rid of them was the Nitty Gritty comb which is on offer from Boots. I tried Hedrin and my little "pals" seemed to be oblivious to it. I was at the point of having my hair cut short until I used this. It's got knobbly bits on the teeth which help get rid of the little sods.
