Better value is to buy Tesco cod or haddock, breaded or battered, @ £2 for 500gm and cut them up for fish butties. I am fussy with fish - these are OK.0

In one of her cookery series, Nigella Lawson was seen making a fish finger butty using three cold crumbed fish fingers with a hefty dollop of Hellmann's mayo and a soft white roll.0

Saw some Young's fish fingers on offer at co-op. So I gave them a try, when I bit into it, it was like rubber. I had to spit it out as it was so awful. I took off the breadcrumbs and found what appeared to be a grey square of some sort of congealed rubber substance that smelt really strong. I opened another box and found these to be the same. When I had a look at the box it just said Fish Fingers, with no cod or haddock label. What kind of so called fish this was is anybody's guess. Binned the lot. STAY WELL CLEAR.0

We buy Aldi's cod fillet fish fingers for £1.25 very nice for the price no mess in the box either op ! lol
Same here.
When DDs were really little and I used fish fingers for meals I'd buy Birds Eye but IMO if they're in a sandwich with tartare sauce (or DH's favourite ketchup) then you can't really tell the difference.0 -
The value fish fingers at supermarkets for me are fairly decent for 60p. It's Pollack in them instead of haddock/cod. Grandio with 27p value ketchup on a wee piece.PK! :money:0

I don't know what goes in them but they must be legal.
Wouldn't be so sure about that, BSE and horse meat are examples of that risk in processed food. But I'm quite happy with Aldi essentials. Had some posh hand breaded fish finger sandwich in a restaurant once and it just wasn't the same as the more basic version.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

The best of the cheaper fish fingers are Aldi Cod, IMO. But so much nicer (and obviously far more expensive!) are M & S Chunky ones and Sainsbury's Taste the Difference chunky ones. In a sandwich, though, where the contents are getting compressed anyway then I would settle for the Aldi ones!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

my favourite meal as a kid was fish-fingers chips and peas, and I have it almost every Friday for tea/dinner as a good start to the weekend. I was recommended the aldi ones, so there in the freezer awaiting Friday.:j0 -
Young's ones in the "crisp bubbly batter" delicious!0
