Fat is 3.6g for full fat and 1.8g for semi so a much bigger difference on the fat. I do no that sugar turns to fat and I am not expert but going on the figures I would guess that it still makes semi the better option?? or does 0.1g sugar make that much difference to how much you feel full?
For anyone whos interested full fat is 65kcal per 100ml and semi 50kcal so not really that much difference.
And that overall fat content is less than 5% therefore qualifies as a LOW FAT food in the eyes of the food industry“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

[2] have you thought of replacing the cereal with eggs? scrambled eggs, mushroom & spinach, or an omelette, or poached egg, ham & asparagus, etc?
[3] full fat milk is actually healthier as it contains less sugar by volume and less milk will fill you up for longer.
[4] potatoes are healthy carbs and contain more vitamin C than citrus fruits, and lots of fibre, especially if you retain and eat the skins (wedges, jacket spuds, boiled baby spuds etc).
[5] cutting the rice & pasta is good, If you want to eat small amounts of rice, make sure it's white basmati
[6]you'd be better off keeping the soup and ditching the fruit salad. High sugar spikes encourage insulin spikes which prevent the body from burning fat as fuel.
But other than that, well done for making changes to your diet and for achieving good results :T
Thanks for the info Chameleon I love butter, but I was eating wayyyyyy too much of it on bread and new potatoes funnily enough I do prefer white basmati. I do occasionally eat scrambled egg for breakfast but prefer cereal and now I'm used to skimmed milk I'd rather stick with it because I love cold full fat milk straight from the fridge by the large glass full and I just know I would end up buying extra. I am an evening grazer and the fruit salad/jelly trick is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth otherwise it would be chocolate bars and bowls of ice-cream.
The diet has stopped my doctor from diagnosing me diabetic as my blood sugar levels are improved enough that she doesn't want to see me for another 6mths , I was only a couple of points away from being diagnosed so another plus for me.:A#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

That's really great news indeed, well done you!! :T
If what you're doing works for you then keep on doing it. No one size fits all and everyone has to tweak things and make compromises to suit their needs. I'm assuming you must have an impaired glucose tolerance (pre-diabetic) so increasing exercise can help stimulate insulin response and get those blood glucose levels down even lower :A“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
As a side note can I temp anyone on this thread to join the couch to 5K thread?

jewlls if its your lower back you might find it helps. I suffer from hypermobility and because im not as toned as I should be just sitting in one position for 15 - 20 minutes and im in agony these kind of exercise should help. let me know how you feel after doing it.
Just to put my penny in on the milk. surely lactofree milk would be better? as it has all the sugar removed? that's if im thinking right because its the sugar that is the intolerance. I think for the amount of fat is only slightly higher but the sugars drastically lower then switch because its sugar that's worst especially when dietingit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

Does Lactofree milk have any other type of sugar added in place of lactose? I don't currently have a carton here to check as I switched to drinking goats milk instead. Find that to be far more tolerable.
ETA: just googled and see they add lactase enzyme to deal with the lactose sugar so nothing else added“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I cut out as much fat and sugar as possible.
No bread, switch to ryvita, no butter or spreads...switch to low fat mayo if you must.
Eat low fat yoghurt, apparently the calcium helps block fat absorption.

Just a note re: low fat yoghurts. Someone mentioned this elsewhere. You should check out the sugar levels in these yoghurts. They might be low in fat but some of them have sugar levels that make me go  I checked the low fat greek style yogurts my mum gets and they have so much sugar in them so be careful.0
