Orange disgrace: How much to charge for my time?

Has your dealing with orange actually cost you anything. Were you unable to work because of them ? I don't think that a few hours on the phone are something you can claim back, unless you had to take time off work.
I won a case in the small claims court once, and attempt to add the value of the half days holiday into my costs. The judge was clear on this. If I was hourly paid, and it had affected my income, then he'd allow it, but if I were on a salary, if wouldn't affect my income, and he wouldn't allow it.
Interestingly my boss, was more forgiving, and gave me it as time of in lieu, pointing out that he could also put it down as "Court Witness" under the HR system they had.0 -
If Orange have failed in their customer service, you can request compensation via CISAS. Whether the adjudicator agrees is a different matter, however over the recent price rise breach of contract, CISAS as well as ordering the contracts be cancelled, has also ordered compensation be paid.I also request financial compensation of £100, for the time I have spent in preparing my communications to Orange/EE, and for the stress, inconvenience and upset caused by the poor customer service provided.
CISAS may award you the full amount if you win or they may cut it down to £50 or zero. If you dont ask you dont get.0 -
Thanks powerful_rogue, that was why I wanted to quantify the compensation I am requesting. If I note down the time per call (many over 1 hour) and time researching and letter writing, per hour that creates a substantiated claim. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0

Its all well and good people saying that you havent had to take time off work etc, however if you've had to spend 2 hours on the phone to Orange because of their error, thats 2 hours of your time you'll never get back that would have been spent doing something else.0

Did you actually take time off to deal with it?
You are definitely over complicating the hourly rate issue. The national average is irrelevant (as are most 'average' figures), someone working in Newcastle cannot claim a higher rate just because someone in London receives more. You give your hourly rate, not some random statistic.0 -
Precisely, thanks vuvuzela. So my contract continued through from December to April, until I requested a new PAC and used this immediately to port to another network.
Exactly. But as Vuvuzela said because you didn't use it the contract will continue. I got one recently and was told it would last 30 days. I can't see how Orange are in the wrong if you didn't use it. I saw what you said in your other post and when you request one they know that you want to end your contract and ask why you are leaving but if you then don't use it your contract WILL continue and unless you've done otherwise like email/write to them and tell them you want the contract to end on a specific date I don't see how this is Oranges fault and not yours?0 -
Ok-
In December I requested a PAC and didn't use it. So contract continued- but they charged me for using it anyway.
In April, my 24 month contract ended and would have continued indefinitely until I requested another PAC, which I did, and I DID use it, so contract should have ended. I had ported my number and had a new contract with a new network. Orange should have then stopped charging me bills, as I was in a new contract with a new network.
Does that explain more clearly? Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0 -

Firstly, you never had a 24 month contract, but an indefinite length contract which had a minimum term of 24 months, but I think that is what you are really saying anyway.
You requested a PAC in April and used it.
Yes, it might be reasonable to assume that you wanted the contract to terminate at the time you used the PAC, but did you explicitly cancel the contract?
What is the notice period that you are required to give to terminate your contract?
If we assume for a moment that requesting a PAC does trigger cancellation of the contract, then you will be expected to pay for the notice period.
Would that notice period be three months by any chance?0 -
Wealdroam, thanks for you comment.
The contract was signed for a period of 24 months ending in April. Using a PAC after this point would not incur any penalty charges. Without cancelling the contract and porting to another network, the payments would be continued on a monthly periodic basis (let me say that I wanted to ensure this myself, so I checked with my new network and this is the information I'm quoting here).
Once you port your number to another network, your contract with the previous company should terminate as you cannot have the same number on two contracts with the same company.
When you say to orange 'I wish to have my PAC' they say 'can I ask why you want to leave orange?' because your contract will terminate.
If you use a PAC before the end of your contracted period, you are charged a penalty for doing so, usually the total standard amount you would have paid until your contract officially ends.
Once your contract ends, there is no 'notice period' you are free to port out to another network without penalty. Perhaps this differs from non-mobile contracts, but that is the way that mobile phone contracts (that I have had at least) have worked.
What orange are stating in their Defence response is that I did not use my PAC until June. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0
