Orange disgrace: How much to charge for my time?
Comments
-
Are you sure that they didn't apply the credit to the Orange account to wipe the bill? I.e. 80 owing as PAC code wasn't used, they agreed to credit the account, which took the bill to zero?
Apologies if I'm misunderstanding.0 -
My account was fully up-to-date, I had no outstanding bills and I had no bills that weren't charged because a credit had been placed on my orange account. I paid each bill on time every month between December and the end of my contract in April when I used a new PAC code.
They would only bill me for using my PAC code to escape from my contract early which in the end I didn't do. I left in April, where there was no charge for using it.
I hope that clarifies. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0 -
You wrote to the ONS asking on average how much someone in your position earns? You're over-complicating this - how much do you earn per hour?
I think unless you actually lost work as a result and could prove you lost this money then claiming anything other than a nominal amount for your time will be seen as frivolous. For instance, at work my salary works out about £35 an hour, but if I spend an hour dealing with an issue in the evening I have not lost £35 and to suggest it is a real loss is not actually true.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
That was the advice by CAB - they tend to know what they're talking about. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0

Whilst well meaning, their advice is not professionally given.
Based on your posts so far (which are unclear and reveal a tendency to over react and read things into the situation) I'd say it is far from certain that CISAS will side with you.
If you wish to go ahead then you need evidence to back it up. To CISAS
you need to state simply and clearly :
The statement of your phone account showing the disputed charge and why you believe it is wrong.
The following statements of your phone account to prove that the credit was not made.
Some proof that a credit hasn't been made to your bank.0 -
If the PAC wasn't used like you said, apart from contacting them to get the PAC how else did you tell them you wanted to cancel?
I can't see how they are to know to cancel the contract if you just that time asked for the PAC but then never used it?0 -
Might be worth posting on the Mobile Phones section as well. Quite a lot of people with experience of dealing with CISAS there.0

@money-saving-king PACs only last for a finite amount of time. In April that PAC I requested in December had long expired, so I had to request a new one. It was also the end of my 24 month contract. It is standard procedure for them to ask why you want the PAC so I will have told them at the time that I was moving networks. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. PACs last 30 days I believe. If you don't use them, the number stays with the network and the contract continues.
When you ask for a PAC, all networks should tell you (mine certainly have the last 3 times I have asked for one over the last 4 years) that if you do not use it, it will expire and your contract will continue on the same terms until you use another PAC or formally cancel the contract. Simply asking for a PAC does not cancel the contract, and never has.0 -
Precisely, thanks vuvuzela. So my contract continued through from December to April, until I requested a new PAC and used this immediately to port to another network. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you.
