Boiler is a 7 year old Worcester 28i junior combi - they pressurise the expansion vessel annually via foot pump !!0 -

Very Helpful
Thanks - I was asked a question, and I answered it
The installers (registered Worcester engineers) use a foot pump - to re-pressurise the Pressure vessel at the annual service - last carried out in January !!
The pressure is slowly lost during the year - up until now - when the pressure has ALL been lost in a 2 day period !!0 -
Please, please, please just do the boiler isolation test. Having done that then you will know if your leak is within the boiler or whether it's elsewhere in the system. If its the first then you don't have to start digging floors up which you seem to be determined to do anyway. Its really very simple so I can't understand why you are making such heavy weather of it.

I would if I could - but the boiler doesn't appear to have any shut off valves on it - I know what you are saying - but I don't think that it is possible !0 -
Ok thanks. If you'd said so two days ago that would have saved me unecessary stress because it was looking like you weren't listening.I would if I could - but the boiler doesn't appear to have any shut off valves on it - I know what you are saying - but I don't think that it is possible !
As SC has gone (I'm back out again in a few minutes too) one of the things he is driving at is that should be no pressure on the water side of the system when the EV is repressurised. If they just pumped it up with pressure on the system they have been wasting their time and yours.
And the valve your Tuesday man opened/closed was probably the AAV. He was probably testing for air in the HEX.
You should not attempt to run your boiler DHW only if there is zero pressure on the CH side.

My wife has pointed out that the boiler is making more noise than it did previously - with no water in the heating side - is it OK - to use the water heating side ?
We have had a previous albeit old boiler literally explode - and my wife is concerned !0 -
last one for me on this thread because tbh I'm getting abit fed up with banging my head against a brick wall
most boilers won't operate if the pressure drops below a certain point, however most WB don't have a low pressure switch, meaning they will carry on working with no water,
yes your wife is right to be concerned & it's no wonder it's making a noise, carry on running the boiler with no water in it & by the end of the day you will either need a new hex or a new boiler
yes there are isolation valves for the heating (& the cold & the gas) they are underneath where the pipes enter/exit the boilerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
