Sticky pad has ruined dashboard

Hi all on the forum... new bloke here...here is my tail of woe
I purchased a sticky pad from a local 99p shop and gave it to my son for his Renault Clio, he had it on the dash for a couple of weeks and when he took it off to clean his car found it had damaged the plastic of the dash, it had puckered up (wrinckled) under where the sticky pad had been place and the dash board is now ruined... what is the best course of action? should i be able to pursue the company to get the damaged dashboard replaced?

I seriously doubt you would get the manufacturer of a 99p sticky pad to fork out for a replacement dashboard!!
What kind of sticky pad was it? Was it designed to go on a dashboard?

It is a dashboard sticky pad which is to stop items like coins or mobile phones etc sliding off the dashboard0

Is the pad designed to be frequently removed. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

And does the packaging suggest you can use it on the dashboard of your son's particular model of car?0

Does the dashboard no longer function as a dashboard? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Good grief, it's like a convention of the stupid in the replies so far.
gus4073, I think this is a case of consequential damages. The product has functioned correctly (it's stopped things sliding around) but has had an extra undesired effect. From experience posting here, most helpful posters know about the sale of goods act and distance selling regulations, but less about issues like yours.
In the first instance though, get a quote to fix/replace the dashboard, and send it to the retailer with a covering letter explain the problem.0 -

You may want to consider reading what you post before calling people stupid.0 -

This the real question.
If you are applying something to a surface with an adhesive it is probably not much use if can just come off again.
OP can of course take this to court but I know which outcome I would be favouring.0
