Their website just screams dodgy. On the home page it says you will win £100 and then in the terms and conditions it says they will give you £20 for completing a survey AND then if you read the feedback on the home page the first commenter said they had a £10 voucher to spend. I wonder how much they paid the Guardian to have their website address in the article?

That's a good spot. I missed it when I read it, not that I would waste my time filling in survey's just for the CHANCE to win something. I really cant understand why anyone would bother with these at all.

Just reading that Guardian article, one interesting point is the HMRC quote at the bottom:

"It is unlikely that there will be a taxable profit if the mystery shopper is simply reimbursed for the cost of meals they are required to eat to fulfil their assignments," says a spokesperson HMRC."

Ie, you don't need to pay tax on reimbursement-only jobs. Which goes against what HMRC have told others before.

The other thing is, do TMDC really do Michelin-starred restaurants?? I'm platinum but have never seen any, though I normally only look around my local area.

I accidentally landed up there. I went to sign up for a genuine MS company and that one had an advertising overlay on top of the other company's page. Rather sharp practice of google or the company I thought. I pulled out without completing it all, but they got far more personal info than I would have liked and it did generate some spam emails.

Yet to some, mystery shopping is so attractive that "a few hundred people" every week are willing to spend up to two and a half hours filling in surveys at ukmysteryshopper.co.uk, just to be in with a chance of effectively winning a £100 mystery shop. "We make money when we sign people up via our surveys, we don't work for any brand we mystery shop," says spokeswoman Amy Mills. Within the surveys, she admits "there may be questions that if you select yes, you'll get text messages and there may be a charge for those messages".

Never heard of this company but definitely looks like one to avoid. Sounds like a scam - receiving text messages that you have to pay for.

I've seen this site promoted on Facebook and just the add looked dodgy and the site only confirmed this. Was surprised to see them mentioned like this. Avoid at all costs!

Do TNS make out of 10 all reports, just looking at my recent paid assignments and half are unmarked.

I had a couple like that with TNS. I also get it with React and their Swedish clothes shops where you have to enter the report on the client system, sometimes the scores don't appear on your job board. I take the view if there is a problem with the report they will contact you

I agree, it's baffling. They used to take about two weeks to allocate them when they were on the previous site too.

Did the chicken people run off with all of gap's money? The mystery deepens.

I think the closing of the other office has had an effect on the allocations in general, as my regular cinema visits have been allocated to some one else for the first time in ages and along with chemists
