  • I've just been looking at the Visits BG mentioned on the other thread I'm wondering if it might be worth buying a cheap android phone.

I have an Android phone but it was only on further investigation that I found that it doesn't run a new enough version to be compatible with the app.

My phone is only 3 years old (suppose that's a lifetime in smartphone terms though) and runs version 2.2 - to do these you must have a phone that runs 2.3 or newer.

Just thought I'd mention as it'd be easy to buy a 2nd hand Android cheapie that won't be suitable.

Does anybody have a link for buyback? Do you just sign up like the others? Thanks
And btw sorry for my naïvet! but what are buy backs?

Buybacks are where, for whatever reason, a firm has a requirement to purchase a number of specific stock items that they sell. Not too sure why they use us to buy the items, but they do.

The only one I've signed up to is Assosia

    http://www.assosia.com

No idea if there are any others but I'm sure some of the more experienced shoppers on here can advise accordingly.

Just one thing, apparently you are not to mention any of the items you buyback on here....it was the theme of a rather heated discussion on here a while back.

Your profits should always be calculated based on HMRC rate. Whether the company pays mileage below that, or no mileage at all, is basically irrelevant. You receive a total sum in payment for the job and you deduct your HMRC mileage (and allowable expenses) from that.

Glad you've said that, as that's what I do. Any mileage I'm paid, I treat as part of the total fee :)
  • I was looking at the android phones and you need a pretty decent one for the app to work. Not worth the expense.
  • Well I'm not sure what mf preferred jobs pay, I'd rather do a buy back! The buy backs can be good, I still have a cupboard full of 1 item, despite giving away over 50, but they shall be useful this winter.

It just shows everyone has their preferred company, the only job's I really liked on mf were the gyms with premium and the sandwiches before they reduced the fee to nothing..

    Poor you.

Should be enough to buy a pint of milk?
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

  • I would say the average buy back takes 30 min absolute tops. That's including the report. Turn that into an hourly rate and what have you got? You take a gamble if space is a premium in your house. I've done buy backs where I've purchased over 100 large products. My garage became an obstacle course.

It's a great filler when you have other jobs on a circuit.

    But hey that's just me...

Yeah whatevs! Didn't they put a limit on about a year ago for no more than 8 visits on the go per account? They might have changed that but I don't think MF have 100 clients! They don't let you pick more than 1 of any client.

Chill out men and women. If MF are really that bad with their emails, sack them! If deleting emails or replying to them is causing you that much harrassment, it's not worth it! I just laugh when I get those emails. MF have never trusted their shoppers, I doubt it's going to change now. Funniest email off MF is the daily "check these out" when you think it's going to be some busty blonde showing off her tetas and it's actually the awful eye tests or the pub visits where they expect you to spend £30 and the pay is few pounds maxmium!

Buybacks can be legenday or a pain in the 'arris. Can anyone remember the chocolate rolls? Nom nom nom. I came home with about 30 packs and I got to keep each and every one of them. Hurrah! Someone I know who is a regular ended up with about 250 packs! On the other hand, I once had to do the bottled water and after shifting 30 2 litre bottles I gave up. Thankfull the said company has dumped me but does my face look at all slightly bothered? NO!
  • I think that the 100 mf job's is some kind of special case it seems, dunno the details.
