Leaving Sky...Best Alternative

Hi, I have been reading lots of posts on Life after sky.. lol, I have a sky HD box hooked up to the main tv, (its not HD) but I have it so that you can view sky on all the tvs in the house, although you cannot change sky channels on any other TV. I was thinking of going the Freesat route and buying a Humax box, with the on demand facitity.. but the big question is can I direct the signal around the house so that you can watch freesat on all other tvs?
Hope this makes sense..
thanks

No - most of the others no longer have an aerial(RF) socket (and I think Sky will leave it off their next box) you'd need to buy a separate rf modulator or use a video recorder if you still have one.0

There are ways to do it but you may as well just use Freeview on the other televisions, in many ways Freeview is actually better since Freesat is missing some channels and the ones it has that Freeview doesn't aren't great.
You'll need to take a look at the Freesat box and check it has RF out although I'm not sure if Freesat boxes will output through RF if you're using HDMI for the main television.0 -
No hdmi on my televisions, as I dont have HD tv's0

TrishaM - you want to look into wireless video senders. RF modualation (the aerial output on the Sky box) is an ancient way to send TV round a house (same way as plugging a MegaDrive into a TV!). It's analogue, not widescreen and low quality.
Wireless video senders will give you a better picture and can allow you to control the box too. Can be prone to interference though, especially over distances and through walls, sortof like WiFi.0 -
Wrong RF can be widescreen or 4:3 exactly the same as the analogue terrestrial system was.TrishaM - you want to look into wireless video senders. Sorry dave - I should have said I don't think the Sky box has the ability to transmit widescreen. I can well remember the days of Nicam stereo, fasttext and widescreen being new!0

SCART?How do you think the wireless senders send the signal if not via RF ??

You're showing me up now Kurtis, I don't actually use it myself, and have only set it up once and don't remember seeing the widescreen option, maybe it's new or my memory's failing me. Cable vs wireless, cable wins every time, all things being even, but RF is such an ancient miserable way to do it these days, I'd rather go wireless, in the absence of a massively long SCART cable!0 -
Can the OP just cancel their Sky subscription and get Freesat from Sky? Would that not work in exactly the same way as they've got it currently?0

We have an amp in the cupboard that sends a signal to all the tv's in the house, worked on freeview and sky so i don't see why it would not work0
