Doesn't fair much worse than many other cars but 37 is a lot less than 51mpg so don't get it purely on an economy drive

Essex22011 - sorry if some of my posts have distracted slightly from your quest. I'm still a little hazy on quite what you're looking for? Are you decided on petrol or diesel yet for instance? What sort of annual mileage do you do?

What appeals about that Astra? (Not saying it shouldn't, just trying to get an idea what you're after.)

To be fair to my car should it go pop tomorrow, it is 8 years old and has just passed 90k miles. I've only had it two and a half years though, so I don't know for certain if it still has its original turbo. Though I have no reason to suspest it doesn't.

I hope both our cars have many fault free miles left in them yet though .

It wont be that one, the manufacture date is wrong.

Fast forward to 4+ years time - the thought of paying over 200 per month for a 4+ year old Astra that will have depreciated down to about 2p would send me running a mile.

No worries! I'm after a 5 door small/medium hatchback which won't cost the earth to fix if it goes wrong.!

I am starting a new job which is a 40 mile journey daily so I think my mileage will be over the 10k mark a year.
