Check your Sky Bill

I've been checking my Sky account after the latest round of price hikes were announced. Looking on there I was paying £36.75 for Entertainment Extra HD, this was a package I took out a few months ago after downgrading from Sky World.

Whilst I was on their website, I looked at other packages that were available and saw Entertainment Extra +, which includes all of the HD channels for £32 per month.

Obviously, my first question was "Why is my package costing more for exactly the same channels?".

Well, apparently this Entertainment Extra + is a new package brought out a few months ago and you must specifically contact Sky about changing to it. They will not automatically move you to their new package.

Is it just me or does this smack of taking advantage of loyal customers?! I would have expected that Sky to automatically move me to the latest package and rate, when it is exactly the same as what I'm already receiving.

Not a happy chappy with Sky at the minute!

If you switch to EE+ you'll lose the Sky Sports F1 channel unless you have the sports package. Quite a few people have been upset by this so in a way it's a good thing they don't automatically change it over.

A number of people have said Sky have contacted them and suggested they switch to EE+ so maybe they would have contacted you at some point.

“Entertainment Extra Plus” does not “include all of the HD channels”.

Your existing subscription, if you leave it intact, will increase in price from £36.75 to £37.25 on 1 September. (The EE pack is rising by 50p a month – to £27.)

Switching to the “Entertainment Extra Plus” pack would lose you the Formula One channels (in SD and HD) and would lock you into a new minimum term of 12 months: Sky cannot legally do that “automatically”.

If you do switch, you will lose, forever, the right to switch back to what you have now.

To regain the Formula One channels (currently free to you), you'd have to subscribe, additionally, to the Sports pack (in SD) and then pay Sky a further £5.25 a month to get them in HD.

    Thanks for the reply.

(Not sure the sarcasm was needed at the end though).

It wasn't sarcasm; it was exasperation. :wall:

Starting a new thread when there is already one running currently on exactly the same topic, addressing exactly the same matter as you raise and answering it comprehensively, results in repetition, duplication and confusion.

Not everyone expects to be individually spoon-fed, here.
