MealPlans WB 8th June 2007

Options
Hi Guys!

Another week gone:eek:

So what you having this week in way of meals:confused: ...we are having:

Saturday-[STRIKE]Chilli Con Carne & Rice[/STRIKE]Ploughmans
Sunday-Chicken, Roasties, Yorkies & 3 Veg
Monday-Pork Chops, Mash & 2 Veg
Tuesday-Lamb Stew & Dumplings (has loads of veg added)
Wednesday-Toad In Hole, Mini Roasts & 2 Veg
Thursday-Shepherds Pie & 2 Veg
Friday-Egg, Chips & Beans

I have everything in but dont have alot of fresh veg here, so am going to use as much up as I can of the frozen veg. I only have frozen peas, sweetcorn, diced sweded and cut beans, so this should be fine. Will need some carrots, cabbage, spuds and fruit though.

Have some vouchers to use at Waitrose, so may get a couple of meat joints with those and get the fruit and veg whilst im there as I will be saving 50% and their prices have come down alot these past few month.

So what you lot having?

    Hi there
I haven't planned for the last couple of weeks and everything has gone to pot! We ended up eating out or getting take away more than I'd like because we didn't know what we were having that evening so didn't take anything out the freezer before we went to work.

    Never again!

    So....

Saturday - seafood pizza for me, pepperoni/salami pizza for DH
Sunday - roast stuffed breast of lamb, veg, roasties
Monday - fish and chips with salad
Tuesday - chilli with left over lamb
Wednesday - pasta with lemon chicken/bacon/mushrooms/asparagus
Thursday - pork chops with mash and veg
Friday - duck fried rice and stirfried veg

For this menu we need to buy asparagus and some seafood for the pizza however our store cupboard is virtually empty so we still need a big shop.
  • This week's menu for us entirely consists of extra portions I cooked and froze last week which is good news as we're both very busy and I'm not sure I'd have had the time to cook properly otherwise.

    We're having:

Saturday: Birthday supper at relatives (will take large homemade cake!)
    Sunday: Tamarind Chickpeas with Chapatis
Monday: 3 Bean Chilli with Jackets
    Tuesday: Mixed vegetable balti
Wednesday: Curry at Bricklane with friends... mmmm
    Thursday: Vegetable casserole with dumplings
    Friday: Beef and Bean Hotpot

I am hoping that other than a load of fresh fruit we won't need to pick up much this week which is a real result as we normally do a weekly big shop and this is my first proper try and doing it fortnightly and (touch wood) it seems scarily easy so far!
  • Well, here is my mealplan for this coming week, but I could easily change my mind, as it depends on what mood I'm in as to what I cook for dinner!! Oh doesn'thelp when I ask what he wants for dinner, and he says oh I don't mind, anything!!!

Friday 8th June Fish, oven Chips and Peas
Saturday 9th June Turkey Curry (with Mr T’s turkey drumstick)
Sunday 10th June Roast pork from Freezer, with roasties, and 3 veg
    Monday 11th June Spag bol
Tuesday 12th June Pepperami Pizza, few oven chips and salad
    Wednesday 13th June Chicken Salad
Thursday 14th June Risotto made with bacon bits from Heron’s

Oh doesn't help when I ask what he wants for dinner, and he says oh I don't mind, anything!!!
My commiserations grannieannie but glad to know I'm not the only one with a DH like that, but he's slowly being trained, he used to drive me nuts, but now that I've started to meal plan life has got easier for me, after the initial planning that is and DH gets what he's given lol! I print a monthly menu off with breakies, lunch (weekend only cos we both have sandwiches or salads during the week) and teas plus any puds/cakes I'm making. The list goes up on the fridge and I know in advance what I need to take out of the freezer the night before, this has stopped loads of those don't know what we're having conversations which ended in trips to Asda to buy something quick! I also have a little notepad on the fridge to write things on I need eg milk, onions etc, and every couple of days the little list gets torn off and I go get just what we need.

There have been a couple of occasions where he looks at the list after tea (usually before I take the meat out that's required for the following night) and asks can we swap tuesday for friday as he fancies a curry for example or like last friday he declared I didn't have to take any meat out or cook because he was treating me to a takeaway on Friday night (he got brownie points for that one :rotfl: )

    This week we'll be having...

Saturday – HM Lasagne, Salad & Crusty Bread
Sunday – Roast Chicken, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Peas, Stuffing & Gravy
Monday – HM Chicken & Mushroom Pie, Chips & Peas
Tuesday – HM Sausage & Pasta Bake
Wednesday – HM Beef Burgers, Egg, Chips & Beans
Thursday – HM Turkish Rice & Lamb with Flatbreads
Friday – HM Chicken & Veg Korma, Rice & Naan

I have almost everything in but will need onions, milk and more flour. Pity you don't live closer to me Grannie I'd have some of your eggs in a heartbeat!

Sat - HM Spag bol and HM cheesey garlic bread
Sun - Roast chicken, roast potatoes, veg, stuffing and HM yorkies
Mon - HM toad in the hole, mash and veg
Tues - HM macaroni cheese and veg
Weds - HM Bacon, onion and potato pie and veg
    Thurs - Freezer day
Fri - Sweet and sour chicken and rice
Sat - HM pizza and HM cajun potato wedges
  • At the moment the plan looks something like this:

Saturday: Swordfish steaks, red and orange peppers stuffed with lime and chilli couscous/olives/cherry tomatoes, rocket salad (Saturday is usually our luxury night, when I perhaps spend a little more...will make up for it later in the week as I usually do - simply balancing out the costs!)
Sunday: Beef burgers, rolls (HM), salad
Monday: Chorizo and chickpea soup (HM), bread (HM), cheese
Tuesday: Glamorgan sausages (HM), mashed potatoes with peas, chilli beans
Wednesday: Mulligatawny soup (HM) - haven't decided what to serve with it yet, maybe some toasted pitta breads
Thursday: Cauliflower cheese (HM by OH :D) baked tomatoes with pesto
Friday: Bean and vegetable chilli (HM), tortilla chips topped with some grated cheddar and bunged under the grill for a few minutes, guacamole (HM) My local farm shop imports these giant bags of tortilla chips from Mexico which are absolutely delicious, and a bargain really at 99p for a HUUUUGE bag - great for things like nachos, bean chilli and so on (and for parties)

Just realised that's two soupy meals in one week - oh well, we both love soup, and it's easy to prepare and cook - I'm a big fan of soups and one dish meals where you can chuck everything in - saves on time and washing up :D

I got the recipe off the OS board sumwhere. I havent actually tried it yet, this is gonna be my first this week.

I jotted down the recipe details.....

800g Bacon (cooked and kept whole)
    800g Potatoes (slice thinly)
    400g Onions (sliced thinly)
    1 Cooking Apple (sliced thinly)
    ½ teaspoon sage
    125ml Water

Layer potatoes, onion, apple and bacon.

Sprinkling each layer with salt, pepper and sage.

    Pour water over the top.

Cover and cook at 170c for 2 hours.

Dot potatoes with butter and cook for a further 30 mins.

    hope that helps
