    Perhaps giffgaff for £12/mo, o2 4g

I have a hard time trusting networks piggy backing of each other especially if they aren't established brands such as Virgin/BT who would be able to secure deals against other networks if their current agreement falls on renewal for example, Giffgaff is owned by o2 and Life mobile by EE so those are relatively safe

I did look at life but no 4G.

I had thought of giffgaff but I believe the pecking order goes o2 customers/Tesco/giff gaff in relation to data speeds.

And 3G is already atrocious on tesco so if I was knocked down a tier I dread to think what it would be like.

Speed test in the middle of Liverpool city centre shows less then 2mb and uploads speeds the like I've only seen in 56k dial up connections. And that's in the middle of a city.

  • I've been using Carphone's iD Mobile for the past few weeks. 4G (runs off 3) and had some good 30 day SIMO deals. I'm on £7.50 / mth for 250 min, 5000 SMS, 1GB data (4G).
They don't pop up on most comparison tables though - not sure why.

Have you ever had reason to call customer service?

I've found tesco cs to be really good and I don't mind paying a little extra for good customer service.

Did the number port over quickly etc?

  • Yeah, i had no problems with the number port. Took a couple of hours which I think is pretty standard. Haven't done that for a few years so wasn't sure what to expect.
Service is fine so far, but I may have to give it a month or so to see if there are any gremlins!

I had a Google last night and to be honest I can't find a single good word about their customer service. And I don't mean the usual with most companies where it's good with a lot of bad (because people only go on to complain very few go on to praise). As well as multiple warnings to avoid whenever there's a deal posted on HUKD due to awful customer service.

So I think I'll be giving ID mobile a miss.

  • Rev if you're looking at giving iD a swerve, three have a very similar deal for £11, but it ties you in for 12 months, and you only get 200 mins. Their customer service is pretty good.

Thanks but I need at least 500 minutes.

TPO looks good, currently on EE but switching to Three in the start of next year.

It is 3G only at the moment but word is they will switch on 4G same time when they move to 3.
