Their website appears to have closed now - the home page just has banners on it about closing down deals 'at your local Index store.'

Wonder if they are shipping their stock to stores, or if someone has bought it all?

Not with my internet connection - in fact, it's completely disappeared now. There's not even a reference to index.co.uk on the page I now get!
  • this has to be one of the worst closing down sales ever.

Just been To Index Store in Widnes, they are advertising 50% off all rings, don't know how long it will last though

I got a good deal on a Dirt Devil Cyclonic Upright Hoover - £55.99. Handy as mine had just broken. Staff told me that they would be closing sometime in July, but were not sure when.

The problem with the Index closing down sale is that they don't really need to have one, other than:

    a) to clear the shop stockrooms
    b) to clear warehouse stock which isn't also in the LXDirect and Littlewoods catalogues

So, there aren't going to be any mega bargains except possibly in the couple of days before each individual shop closes.

I last heard that the shops were closing on 25th June. That seems to be the day most of the staff become redundant.

 I was on this bargain as soon as it began... it was great then. From my local store I bought the Sony NW-E55 for £36.99 (spend £50 get £5 voucher free)

    Also got a 20GB Thomson Lyra £89
    Goodmans standalone DVD+RW recorder £59
Olympus xD digital camera sets £10 (still £40 in Argos  )
    Sony Handycam bag £2

Other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head.

It seems to have petered out for the moment with just 10/20% off and stuff. Maybe as Index does begin to finalize its closedown the absolute bargains will again surface..? Hopefully so.
