  • Well I'm debt free - well kind off!!

Money hit my account today, how excited I was seeing the money.

I went into the bank at lunch time and asked to pay it all off bar one payment ....could I do " money laundering regulations limit it to £5,000" so £5,000 paid off. The remaining money in my account to pay tomorrow or possibly Thursday. I do however have more money in my account than I have debt so I think I can say I'm debt free.

How stupid is it that I can't pay a lloyds loan, through a lloyds account from funds from lloyds ppi, no question as to the source of the funds but hey ho that's aml regulations for you.

I have transferred £850 into my savings/emergency account, so a nice healthy balance in there too.

So all good really. If I include the payment for next month ( out Nov 1 ) then I have around £112 left.

Finally how did I celebrate my ppi payment - a meal deal from boots instead of my homemade soup. £3.29 and I used a voucher (30p off) so dfw is still firmly with me.

Skipping off with a smile on my face xx

Without this site I wouldn't have considered a ppi complaint either xx

  • Had a very productive lunch hour, decided to go into the bank and requested a review of my accounts. After a few minutes discussion 3 vantage accounts were opened. They offer a reasonable rate of interest, better than what I'm currently getting and better than an isa.
The only thing I have to do is to ensure I pay £1000 into the account on a monthly basis ( can juggle that money about to make the £1000 if necessary).
They also offer a will service - something I kept saying I need to do but never got round to. So considering that right now.

They did try and convince me of the merits of life cover and critical illness but happy to do without.

This is all new to me ... Normally it's debt discussions!! With all the tips on this site it's easy to feel in control rather than being forced into something not suitable for me.

    Xxx

Just checked my current account - not a great deal left. Determined not to use the credit card for anything that I can't pay off straight away. So looks like I will be living out of the freezer this next week or so.

Made a couple of fruit pies from scratch last night and it made me realise how much I enjoy baking. Have some pastry in the fridge left over so shall use that up this afternoon in something. Considering a pasty bottom, lemon curd and then a lemon sponge top. Have everything in other than lemons.

Going over to parents this morning and will probably pop into lidl so shall get fruit and veg there.

How long till pay day, too long. I have a friend coming over next weekend ( normally a credit card blitz) shall have to think of an alternative.

On the plus side nearly all Xmas gifts are purchased. Brought some nice little gift boxes and cellophane bags for home made cake/chocolate. These are mainly for my mums friends on the access bus 'the access crew' but it's become a tradition which I enjoy.

I also have a very naughty cadburys chocolate recipe book which only comes out at Christmas. Normally for millionaires shortbread and brownies. Think I will spend this evening looking through that for what I shall be making. If I do a list now then I can buy a couple of things each shopping week rather than it being a silly expense.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Sunday morning and I'm lounging in bed. Keep telling myself to get up and get motivated but reading stuff on mse is far more compelling.

Had a nice day yesterday at mums. Brother and nephews were there. On the down side my brother was talking about Christmas Day and I suddenly realised what it was going to be like. He doesn't get on well with my sister and brother in law ( last year there was tears and tantrums) and I just think it's going to be a repeat performance.

Really not sure what to do about it - I can't control other peoples behaviours but doesn't necessarily mean I want to see it. I would quite happily spend the day on my own but oh no you can't do that!! My mum and dad are disabled so they can't do lunch so I will know doubt end up doing it.

I need to forget about it or it will get me down.

Money wise not a bad day. Popped to the co-op as I'd seen they had the little boxes of cereal on offer ( the variety packs) and got a dozen packs and took them to the food bank. £15 well spent even if it does mean I'm left with even less in my purse till pay day.

Today is going to be a nsd. I shall be mainly cleaning, washing and ironing. Might make some Christmas cards this afternoon.

Hope you all have a good day xx
