Well another week done and it's the weekend.
Tomorrow I'm going to treat my nephews to a drink and cake out and then we are going out in the evening as leeds are doing some free events in the city so going to have a wander aground. It won't be ridiculously silly money wise but really looking forward to it.
My impatience got the better of me today and I rang about my ppi complaint expecting to be told a decision hasn't been made. Instead I was informed that letters had been issued on the 2nd. I asked for details if the contents and was told my complaint had been upheld and that I am owed in the region of £8,500. Need to wait for the letters, agree them send it back and it could take upto 28 days to get the payments.
I know I could be counting my chickens as I haven't got anything in writing but sounds good to me.
So hopefully I am very nearly debt free.
Although I have only been budgeting for a short while I intend to keep going. I will have a bit left over but that will be for a new tv for my mum and dad ( they need one and they're brill so that's a thank you to them). So the budgeting will continue until I have around 3 months salary equivalent in the bank.
I have absolutely no intention of spending how I spent previously, never want to have sleepless nights not knowing what I owe and figuring out how I can get out of the state I'm in.

Had a lovely day yesterday, spent all day with family. My nephews were stars.
A generally reasonable day money wise and the boys had a great time too.
Got home to a letter confirming the details regarding my loan ppi. Says I don't have to do anything other than wait for the payments. I think part of it will be paid directly to my loan account. Says it should be paid with in 28 days.
So everything being equal I should hopefully have the loan paid off for December. I'm going to do it as a two phased approach as I don't want to be hit with 58days interest penalty. So I shall pay the majority off and then leave the last payment to go out by direct debit and hope it doesn't incur a load of interest doing it that way.
A couple of months back I couldn't see any light and from coming on this site I have managed to get my act together and face up to my financial mess and realise that it's not how I want to exist. Without being on here I wouldn't have complained about my ppi and it's from this that will enable me to become debt free quicker. However it's the learning that will keep me debt free. So a huge thank you.
I shall be debt free for the first time since I was 18 when I initially got a sony hifi system, top of the range with a CD player in! So best part of 25 years.
I will still be on here - if you will let me stay as I now want to save. Initially a 3 month salary build up and then I suppose long term so I can retire early. That's a bit scary really as my financial planning was from getting through one month to the next.
£3.69 PAD to my loan this morning.
Happy Sunday to you all xxSave £12k in 2014 #080 £0/£8,000.

lovely have read from the beginning, well done on the ppi, that's fab news.
I have started doing adpoints in the last couple of months, you can earn up to 250 in a week but they rarely put lots of adverts on so realistically im 'earning' about 100-150 nectar points a week. But that's good, equivalates to about £3-5 a month. (make sure you watch out for the add a day, you get triple points and have the newsletter delivered (comes about 3pm on a Friday and you get triple points for the add of the week)
on top of this I have Nectar search toolbar, points for downloading and then one point per two searches, disable searchbar when not using though as it slows things down a little.
on top of this I do value opinions and each month have about £10 of sainsburys vouchers from them.
so I have a rather unusual hobby at present of going with my £15-17.50 vouchers and nectar points and seeing how much I can get in my trolley (I spreadsheet beforehands to get the best deals) for a few pennys over. I stock up the storecupboards and makes me smile win win I say.
I have earnt with vouchers, points and bogoffs and shop offers about 159ukp since January this year by doing this, so well chuffed.
I thought this info could help with your shopping on a month to month basis.
good luck with your debt savings journey., have subscribed.0 -
Well it's been a few days since I've updated my diary and to be honest things have gone a bit to pot.
My nsd's haven't materialised. So I really need to get my act together. Since the ppi phone calls and follow up letters me I know I've relaxed.
I have started spending money ( nothing on the credit cards) but money that could have gone into savings. It's mainly Xmas presents, I know I was going to give token gifts but I really didn't feel happy about that it's just not what we do as a family.
However I am still doing it in an mse fashion. Went to boots today spent over £50 and got 1200 points. One of the gifts was a bottle of aftershave and it was the one my brother likes and I got £5 off and another 750 points. So £54 spend on a bottle of silly priced after shave, 3 gifts ( for the price of 2) but £20 in points.
Still doing my adpoints but my PAD has gone.
So instead of feeling guilty about buying gifts for people I'm going to accept its Christmas and birthday spends. I won't use the credit cards and as long as though I don't touch the emergency saving fund then I'm okay.
I probably have enough shopping in the house to cover me to the end of the month so I although the Xmas spending has significantly reduced my bank balance and PADding will be an issue I can through to the end of the month.

We are fast heading into the most expensive time of the year... I am not good at token gifts either as it's not what I'm used to.
Knowing you have the lump sum coming must be such a huge relief I am not surprised you've relaxed, I think I would too.
Keep smiling

Well another nsd today so maybe I've turned the corner.
Now starting to get impatient for the money to hit my account. It could take up to 28days so have still got a while yet. I suppose I just want to be debt free.
That in itself is a big step as not so long ago I would have been thinking of ways to spend the money - well maybe paid a bit off but I would have deserved 'something'. Now I just want the Money to clear my debts. If there is anything left it will go in the saving pot. Deserving something has got me in this position in the first place.
This weekend is not going to be very mse as sister is up. However I shall keep it to a minimum. Still a long way till pay day so purse strings will remain closed as much as possible.
Hope you all have a great weekend xxSave £12k in 2014 #080 £0/£8,000.
