  • We hadn't thought of either - I'll add them to my mental list.

By the way - your PM box is full.

  • I arrived in the days before telephones... and early. I suddenly appeared so dad had to deliver me, then, later, go to the public box and call a midwife. He/mum stayed together to the end.

I think I'd prefer a proper midwife - no offence to either your Dad or OH!

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Blimey, that must make you about 140. I knew you'd had a Birthday recently, but didn't realise you were that old! :rotfl:

The thing that I find amusing is when people that are 'allergict to electromagnetic waves' are interviewed about it in a TV studio. I think that was a 90s thing.

I saw a TV programme once, where people who asserted they had this allergy were invited to a country house. It had a phone mast in the car park next door. They knew they were there for research into symptoms.

They were told the mast was not on for the first part of the week. No symptoms. They were then told that the mast was switched on halfway through the week. Symptoms promptly reported.

The programme revealed that the mast had in fact never been switched on ...

I'm sure that some people do live with this condition but not on the scale asserted by many people ...

Question - mainly for the nice ladies, but nice men feel free to contribute.

    Swarovski Crystal. Nice? Or tacky?
Would a nice (I think, but remember the gender...:o) small swarovski jewellry item make a good gift? It is a bit more expensive than I first thought, but I wanted to get a couple of people something extra nice this year after they've done good stuff for me. But I don't want to get them tacky stuff.

Planning/thinking necklaces. Silver. I know friends like crystal stuff, & I saw them in a shop & their reflective-ness/responsiveness to light really caught my attention (& is reflected in the gift choice if that makes sense?)

I'm not convinced by the second necklace, particularly the one with a single chain down to the ball.

Personally I think you can't go wrong with simple silver, but that does depend on the rest of their jewellery tastes - wouldn't work if they wear predominantly golden coloured jewellery.

I like Elizabeth - but then again it was my Gt-Gmother's first name, and the middle name of my mum / me / my niece :)

My middle name goes perfectly with the dreaded surname in question - but it's outrageously Victorian / Edwardian, and not remotely Jewish (-:

My paternal grandmother and her 4 sisters were named of their times (1899 to 1913) and were Clara (pronounced, as it was then, Clare-a, not Clarr-a), Maria (pronounced Mariah), Violet, Phyllis, and Florence.

Our god daughter is Florence. I'm pretty sure that these names are coming back around. Clara is lovely, and Violet.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

OH said the opposite - he felt he saw and was close to the inner-NDG in a way otherwise not possible, and thought it a wonderfully intimate and important experience. I'm pretty sure he didn't see it as sexual in itself (it's not) but he said it made him love and value me more than before.

It certainly hasn't put him off, either - the near 9 year gap between babies isn't a consequence of no-sex-for-9-years (-:

Obviously there's a bit of a break from sex when you've just had a baby, while everything sorts itself out, but not more than that, at all.

My birth wasn't in the least confusing wit anything sexual....I was a ceaserian......my poor mother was not young and had tried for some time by then though.

Poor woman hated everything about giving birth in this country.

Hope parents are Ok, insured and have the drum kit somewhere dry

Parents are fine, dad is a little unsettled but they are safely at the hotel on high ground. They do have insurance and the drum kit is upstairs at their house, hopefully if they do flood, it won't reach that high....it didn't in 1953, so fingers crossed.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

NDG - How about Amos? Or Joel? I know small boys called both of those.

I love Amos. Amos and Isaac sound kind of a cool pair.. not too matched but, of equal gravitas. You can imagine them as a teen and a twenties being too cool for words, amos in awe of Isaac, and a pair of middle aged friendly brothers with families and chatting good naturedly and also as older men, devoted brothers.
