Pssst...PN, when michaels PM'd you about baps and snaps, I don't think he meant long life baguettes.0 -
Some might say expensive burger - you could get McDs for 5 for 16 quid
He did get a salad too.. He didn't get chips, and his new admirer at work made a bit of a deal about it apparently. DH is both flattered and a bit nervous by having such an obvious admirer at work. He's combining a sort of a strut with a duck and hide manoeuvre in his general demeanour :rotfl:

A mate of mine is in Guatemala on hols (he calls it 'traveling' but it's really a holiday).
Why do people call it traveling? It's a holiday and their tourists/holidaymakers not travelers. It's fake gravitas.
Travelling is, to my mind, longer and not in one place.
So if you go to Cornwall / Costa Packet / Ibiza for a week or fortnight, that's a holiday.
If you go to India or Russia for a couple of months, staying in lots of different places, that's travelling....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I'm about lir - it's rather busy at Bugs transport this week. We don't move Christmas/consumer goods, but it's end of year and compressing everything into 20 days doesn't help.
Wheezy, the younger one you could hire out to GCHQ with those ears:D. My photobucket is mostly dogs as well:o.PasturesNew wrote: »There were some lovely dinners on the "what did you have for dinner" thread the other day.... and somebody who can't make roasties!
I can't either. Unless there's instructions. I'm not a fan of a roast dinner, though I'll eat one if it's put in front of me, therefore never learned to roast potatoes.
But I do like and can cook mushrooms.0 -

Well, just for you bugs, as I have broken dh's rule without realising anyway I might as well go the whole hog....
(Problem was the antlers were too big for him so they flopped around unless they were held). Both the men in my life in that pic, ain't they sweet?0 -
Back to the school yet again this morning, youngest had a (non violent or aggressive) meltdown in maths yesterday where he scribbled all over his work and ripped it up (very very unusual for him to do it in maths) and middle son is not happy in 6th form either.
My grey hairs are multiplying! :rotfl:
Oh no! What happened to set youngest off? And how are they messing middle son about now?
I am starting what I fear may turn into a battle with school too. DS's anxiety is getting worse. (Anxiety disorders are common in children who've had several major losses, but he's now really noticeably worse than he was even at the beginning of this term.) At least it is just school anxiety ATM, so he can enjoy life outside of school, so that's an improvement on a few years ago. But it is making him worse to have to study two languages when he's too dyslexic to cope properly with foreign languages at all. He won't be doing them for GCSE (he'd only fail them if he did) so I think he should give them up now, have a bit of literacy help (which he needs) and a bit of time to work on his homework (which would help with the workload anxiety), and stop having "I can't do this Spanish" themed panic attacks.
I'm not at all sure what kind of response I'm going to get to the email I sent this morning. It would be lovely if they said "We had no idea he was in such a state. Yes of course he should give up both languages if that's what they're doing to him. We will make arrangements for him to do something else during those bits of the timetable." But I'm not convinced that's what they'll say. We shall see.
What with DS's issues and my interest in education from the teacher's PoV, you can see why I always feel such a sense of concern and solidarity when you post about trying to get your boys' school to take their individual needs seriously!neverdespairgirl wrote: »Travelling is, to my mind, longer and not in one place.

What NDG said.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I like the curtains. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
It seems that would be sensible plan for him Lydia. It must be so frustrating. He is clearly a very intelligent young man, that stands out clearly about him. When you post saying he doesn't realise that my heart aches, because until he has self realisation nothing much will help. I wonder if there are any fun things over summer that might draw on his strengths and give him some of 'that'?
Is he still doing the animation? What is he doing 'for fun' that is esteem boosting? Also, is he physical? Does that help mood lift for him? I know you know more than most how stressful the future years are and how getting good coping strategies and habits for life in place are.
Has he made any good friends?0
